I too must chime in as I have also been looking everywhere for this song. I found another version but I wanted this one which is the original. Now, how can I download this on my IPod? WOW! I too have been searching for this version of "I Need Your Spirit" for 15 years. I had this cassette back in the late 80's, and I played it contantly. This song and album has been out of print for the longest!

I have been looking for this song for years, did not know who sang it and it blessed and moved my soul in the 80's and still does now. There is a beauty and pathos to this version and to read about what went on "behind the scenes" was awesome!!!. Please continue to place spiritually uplifting music on You Tube as a witness. Dr.Judith McAllister has achieved this sound with the C.H.Mason COGIC MASS Choir and they sound awesome @ the 103rd Holy Convocation in which Edwin Hawkins was in attendance at,....hmmm...wonder if he had anything to do with it,..lol,...???

I LOOOOOOOVE this song!!!!!!!! I was a little girl when I first heard this. I have been searching all over for this original version. I thank God a version of Daryl Coley came out a couple of years ago. This song is so beautiful!!! It truly speaks to the need to have God's spirit fall fresh on you. "So that I can live right. @AquSon-I just listened at 2:36 and picked up Walter's voice on that high note. (Wonderful bit of trivia-thanks!!) His voice (as Tramaine's) both have distinguishable tones. I also hear the young Walter's tenor and the young Tramaine's soprano voices on the Northern California State Youth Choir recording from 1968 famous for Edwin's "O Happy Day." =)

@ the 2:36 mark, Walter Hawkins sings the high note because during the recording, Daryl Coley had trouble hitting the note.

Being the perfectionist that he was, Walter went into the studio and added the note. - just a little interesting tidbit for those listening to the song.
