Ok this is where common names of tarantulas really do not them justice. Keeping them for 16 years, there's no such thing as Red Back Tarantula nor or any tarantulas thats sold are deadly. No one ever died from one.
The ones in the video (Mexican Red Rump and Peru Flame Rump) are as painful as a bee sting if they bite. You must be thinking of the Black Widow with the red hour glass on its back. I do not own this one and it's not that deadly
The most venomous T that you get in the hobby is the Stromatopelma calceatum (featherleg baboon) of which I own. The worst they can do is give you severe leg/muscle cramps, cold sweats, nausea, swelling, and intense pain which can last from days to weeks, depending on the individual person and how much venom gets injected.
Sorry for the long messages, but If the one you referring is the one that appears at 6:37 in this video, this is a Brachypelma vagans (Mexican Red Rump). This is not a deadly species at all in facts its one that I recommend to a first time tarantula owner. Brachypelma species venom is very weak compared to more venomous ones, and its bite and effects are about as close to a bee/wasp sting.
@Jon3800 Ah I see. I might get it, I'm not afraid of Tarantula's because I know how gentle they are and actually have been contemplating on getting one for a while now.
Later down life I'm also getting a Fennec Fox or two.
It depends on species you get.. Some happen to very gentle others not. In my collection, I own 124 tarantulas around 80% of them are not gentle at all.
If you're contemplating on getting one: I recommend getting a curly hair, mexican red knee, pinktoes, or pink zebra beauty. These are arguably one of the most gentlest species that you can buy, I even made videos showing me handling them
Since the video was taken I have acquired a lot more tarantulas, got more experienced with them as well. True there are some that are more venomous to humans such as Poecilotheria species, but I have not read any documented cases on someone getting killed from a tarantula bite on dedicated forums...However, you will hear more death reports by scorpion venom.
Umm, you must mean the African Black Thick Tail Scorpion, or the Egyptian Fat Tailed. I've never heard anyone dying from an Emperor scorpion. They are not even a lethal species. They are as painful as the B.vagans. For dangerous species, you must be 18+ to get one.
In scorpions, the most venomous scorpions are small bodied have thin claws and very thick tails. Emperors are the exact opposite, so they're not deadly at all.
dude!!!! that is awesome!! i caught a tarantula and need help keeping him alive. i put together a cage for him and have tried putting crickets and meal worms in the cage. he is not eating! i read they dont eat while moulting... but how do i know if that is the case. i dont want him to die. can i send you a picture and maybe get some advice?
Good vid. :-) I have never had a scorpion but try wounding or stunning the cricket as it looked to me like there just lazy. lol I think it would eat one dropped near it that dident run away right away. :-)
Wow, your collection is slowly getting bigger (faster than mine tho. LOL!) I just got a threat posture from Pita (P.irminia) about 2 days ago giving her water. Kind of funny because she didn't put a whole lot of effort into one. :-) I love my psalmos and can't wait for more. Also want a GBB really bad. haha!
I have 5 Rev Sharing Videos is all... But i Know it Dose Pay i made $347.00 Last Mouth on Adsence .. so now i know how Partners feel about Clicking on ads... so when i Click on a Partner Video i Click and Both adds and watch the Video and Leave the Other windows Open LOL.. Hay it's got to help right ???
Your P. irminia can be easily agitated. I should be getting one soon. Ironically though my P. cambridgei is as docile as a kitten, it's in pre-molt though.
Hey Jon, I dont know if you bought those as mealworms but those are actually superworms/kingworms. The difference is the size mainly as supers are way bigger, move much faster and that Superworms are a tropical species and while mealworms can bestored in thefridge/freezer to slow their growth rate ifyou triedthiswith superworms they would die.
after two failed A avics when i was like 12...the idiot at the pet store didnt tel me nothign about there insane HUMity needs... never start with A, AVic,
My A.avic just molted last week. I wondered why she hadnt been eating for a while.....like over a month so I suspected a molt, shes eating like a champ now

@Jon3800 I'm not exaggerating and there is a Tarantula out in the world that has killed people, it's venom is heavy.
I don't remember the clear name but it was either black with his entire behind red or it was a complete dark red. Probably the latter.

chilian rose was my 3rd T
after two failed A avics when i was like 12...the idiot at the pet store didnt tel me nothign about there insane HUMity needs... never start with A, AVic,
they have high reqs. get G rosea !
ultum4tegunz 2 years ago
Actually, B.albopilosum, and E.camperstatus are better choices then G.rosea
G.rosea are shown to be defensive, which are supposedly labelled as docile, and they have irregular feeding patterns.
Jon3800 2 years ago
Should I start feedig my spiders once every 5 days? lol
ultum4tegunz 2 years ago
depends its up to you. Some people feed them every week, some biweekly and some every month (but that's pushing it)
5 days is perfect
Jon3800 2 years ago
MY G rosea is 5 1/8 inches lol!
It looks larger but. its just bulky.
I bought it as a full grown female at some pet shop got 20 bucks.
