The cars cut through the air very cleanly, so it takes a lot less horsepower to make an F1 car move than it does a NASCAR. The money spent on engines in F1 goes into the finer details, because that's what F1 is; a technological, precision sport. Anyone could build an 'F1' car using $250,000, but there's no way in hell it's going to be anywhere near competitive enough.

Any circuit driver can go from one series to another and be good, but very few will dominate a series they're unfamiliar with. Juan Pablo Montoya was one of my favourite F1 drivers, but he hasn't dominated NASCAR because he came from F1 which is 'harder' in the view of the ignorant.

What we have in F1 that you don't have so much of in NASCAR are corners. Another contributing factor is aerodynamics. F1 cars are under as much as 5G under breaking. The averge human head weighs 8lb to 12lb. So you you multiply 8x5 = 40. I dare you to try and lift 40lb using only your neck muscles, and do it for an hour and a half.
