Barry Eugene Carter (September 12, 1944(1944-09-12) – July 4, 2003, brothers and sisiter's there was only one walrus of love, he has been missed hasn't he.
Haven't found this song anywhere on an album - heard him do it on a TV show long ago, something like Merv Griffin I think. Looked high and low for the song; finally downloaded it on the computer and put it on a disc with his other music. GREAT song!
Well, what can I say? He is 'THE MAN', take nothing away from him. Pity, the best, the talented, the genius have a habit of not stayin' alive long enough for our satisfaction. God himself, just like us, picks up the best to decorate his house. Barry's music will however be always with us.
@davewc - I totally agree - HE IS THE GODFATHER OF SOUL and he also exploded the Disco scene as well....e.g. Your sweetness is my weakness; Let the music play, The Man among others...
I have this song on vinyl. It's the title song from his album titled "Sheet Music." It was released in 1980. My wife and I were married less then a year. Put this on the stereo, turn the lights down low, light some candles and open a bottle of Mateus Rose and whew....
This man was a music genius! Listen to the various instrument play! Listen to the melody! Listen to the overall composition! He had many great music on the "sheet"
I am very grateful for his music. This is old school music and love, something that is so hard to come by these days. Back in the day, the struggle was what brought a couple together. Mutual respect for enduring a very hard time united a couple. Hard to find that these days. This man was a maestro!!!!! forever in our hearts.
DAMN! This shit taking me back, god have mercy, all the fly ladies up on 125th st. and grant projects, manhattanville projects, along broadway, along amsterdam ave, up at riverside drive, grants tomb, riverside church I use to hang out yes in the church we party (with the lord permission), stone gym, anyone who read this and is from 125th st & bway, in harlem new york city, u know u feel it, back when i grew up in 1970s wl b 50 in april! I made it out, but won't forget who is still there.
This is the Godfather of Soul people. Nobody write his own, music, composes, and writes the instrumental background like Barry White. This man does it all. This is why he has the success that hes has in the past, present and future, because Barry does NOT let no one to write his music. His music continue to carry forever and he is the man
Just checked and this isn't such a rare song, the album is available on Amazon. Title Sheet music, album is re-released in 1992. It's the title song of the album. Just ordered it and it will be delivered very soon! So.....
I remember hearing this song in 1994-95 on an oldies station and I loved it. It was a familiar White beat but the arrangement had another texture to it that I loved.
suitelady... I did too. I couldn't listen to his music for months... I kept crying. People would ask me at work whats wrong.... I actually moped. In the lunch room at work they played a Barry White song. I couldn't order lunch. LOL and what got me out of the funk was listening to "My First, My Last, My Everything". The lesson was, to me, to continue listening to his music. If I keep listening, he's never forgotten!
Thank you so much, I LOVED this man & his music!! When I got news of his death, I sat in my chaise lounge & sobed!I wore black on the day of his memorial. He was my sensual inspiration & teacher. He will live on through his music! There will never be another Barry White!
yes!!!Im absolutely agree with you!!Hes my inspiration...theres no other like him,I specailayy love him,lo ve him so so much,I still criyng for him nowadays I will always love you barry
