The enemy is down, then what? I mean my brother was stolen a few weeks ago and there were two. He put one on the ground and the other one attacked him, while the other one was trying to get up. What can do if it happens something like that happens to me??
I was choked today by a bully its not just happend today im a freshmen btw so I told the dean and she suspended him for a week but he keeps doing the same thing over and over for 2-3 minutes just choking me from behind so im going to try this for when it happens
Question: what to you when your opponent has you in a choke hold, while you and your opponent are both on the ground. Now that's a hard one to get out f
@e05symbols It's about doing it quickly, and the attacker, who's about to get thrown, is put into a pretty akward position, and he's most likely not even able to curl his leg around yours
Hey sensi how about an attacker choking you when your sitting on a chair....cause a boy always chokes me when im sitting...i want to denfend myself from being choke by this boy...
This could work... But I would much rather do a strike behind me, to his temple, or to his groin. Then, while his grip is loosened, use the pressure points in the elbow to peel it off me (or simultaniously do this, or reverse it, depending upon the strength of my attacker)... What I would not do, and suggest no one ever does, is an attempted shoulder throw, against a fresh attacker. At least, not the way this video shows... It is terribly wrong, please don't get hurt trying this...
@Gushyushy again, actually, it may hurt the thrower, if he/she stays stiff as a board. The trick is to follow the attacker's momentum. Really, though, like I said, if it was going to result in the death of the thrower, there is no way they would teach it. This is me talking to all now. Moves don't just end where they leave off here. They can lead to other moves. The other choke release, for example, can lead to a full mount if you know what you are doing (speaking from exp. on that one).
what happens if you are significantly taller than the assalent and by that I mean about a foot taller ive heared that you reverse it and you force the assalent to go under you or you go over them, but how would you acctually do this?
@saeedsnne That's why they call it the element of surprise. If you can ultimately surprise your opponent and do this technique, his conciousness will force him to let go in order to break his own fall. Although this probably won't be ideal when fighting a martial arts master.. :(
Sensei's video's are very informative, and there are 100's of modifcations that can be used. Your personal calm mind and awareness, are the key NO MATTER, what art or tactic you use. Practice and awareness are the keys, if you are actually trained in real arts (not fake ufc tv sport fight rules) you'd understand this. Sensei, your video's are great.
@SkemeKOS Youre right to an extent. I've always heard you should *strike/ or shock* the opponent before you attempt a throw or special move. This takes his/her mind away from your actual target. for ex. if she stepped on his foot, or elbowed to the gut.. before bending down for the throw. He wouldnt see it coming.
My daughter who is 7 was attacked by a 15 year old boy. He knocked her down, straddled her and started to choke her. Can you show some basic techniques that I can teach her to defend herself in this situation? She already knows most of the other choke defense techniques, but this position I never learned. My sensei taught me that pulling out on the pinkies works as well and that has saved my life in the past, but having someone sit on you and choke you makes it a little harder to defend.
@che155 Yes! Isn't that horrible?! It was a good thing there were people there 2 help her. They tell me she was able 2 defend herself pretty good & draw attention 2 the situation by yelling like I told her 2. They also say she managed 2 get a stick & hit him in the face w/ it. When I confronted the boy, he had a big welt on his eye. I didn't report him b/c there was confusion as 2 who was in defense. The boy claims he was only defending himself, but I still got after him about the choking.
Dear Sensei, what if a person who is grabing you move a little back and make you bend backward a little. how is the technique is applied then. please post something I really want to know this. thanks
lowkickr1 is right, if you are facing an experienced fighter, they won't let go. I've come to prefer a safer technique where you roll backwards onto your opponent to pin them below you, the position your elbow on their trachea.
BUT, for most fighters this is a plenty effective technique.
Major flaw. Here the choker nicely lets go of the choke and applies the text book break fall. Here's what the truth looks like. If she drops her weight, so does he, no more throw, and now she is unconscious. Or, she actually throws but our bad bad guy locks down hard on the choke, now the strain of his full weight is on her little neck, likely causing severe mucsle or nerve damage if not breaking her neck. Even by luck should her neck survive, the choke is still on...sleepy time!!
I used to do martial arts years ago. Recently my girlfriend said her ex choked her in a parking lot and he was stalking her. I showed her a variation of this just in case. Sure enough her ex showed up at her house. But... We had worked on a few of these scenerios. Just in case.Sure enough he pulled her hair from behind and tried this choke on her. She flipped him and screamed help. The neighbors came out to see whats up. So her embarrassed ex left. Point is he never bothered her again.
I just got choked in class today at school but I didnt want to use this technique because the last time I used it, the guys arm hit the floor and ripped a part of his elbo...
No need 2 get it twisted peeps. it's just bio mechanics. People seem to have this perception that bigger is better, but that isn't the case. If u think that's a false statement, go and take on a judo player and see what happens.......
Added 2 that, it only takes 12lbs of pressure 2 break a joint. A ten year old with the right instruction could cripple u..............
there is a similar throw to this one when u get choked u lean forward bend your knees grab the attackers closest foot and throw him over and u get in the position of braking his leg and he releses his choke in the fall to the ground when u break his leg u run
Im pretty good at keeping my center of balance and this looks like it could work if I wasnt paying attention. butiv wrestle with some buddies and they try things like that (might not be the same) and it doesnt work because im contering there movements.
well yeah theres always a defence to every technique...being prepared for it ius often the best way to defend like u say...tensing ur muscles and planting urself to the ground.
no practice needed i do the naturaly always have done (born martial artist) 1 problem example lets his loose arm (one holding chokeing arm) free no effot, a real attacker woulld keep hold and victim would either have to wriggle out or kick to the lower bak of the ribs (anouther vonurable spot) to get to let go
Great technique! Requires practice though. I think it should be noted that if possible, the victim needs to tuck the chin whenever possible. Otherwise, if the choke is tight, you have a matter of seconds as blood flow to the brain is cut off.
I think what you guys are forgetting is that these are for self defence purposes and not competition, so it gives at least a chance to the victim, obviously it wouldn't be as effective against trained martial artists but against a drunk or rapist it would improve chances.
When I perform rear naked choke, I always prepare to disengage this kind of throw by pressing my other free hand against the buttock. This will simply break the harmony of a throw.
once again a real fighter, when having a full choke in place, whether or not shoulder thrown, will not release and likely break the neck of the thrower....any elbow pressure points you can show us?
if a person who knows his groundwork does an RNC, chances are he'll pull you down to the ground and assume the classic RNC position... that might be a pickle to get out of.

@Gushyushy Well, screw the pressure points! Just do a full body-weight stomp to the metatarsals or the phalanges, and he'll loosen his grip real fast, get real busy focusing on his broken foot, shift all his weight to the other foot, and have his balance compromised. All of that making for the perfect set-up for throwing. When a simple stomp can get you that, why is she wrestling him for the throw? That will only aid in her getting choked out, and a guy twice her size can out wrestle her.
@Gushyushy Correct, he would not release, but he wouldn't break your neck. Go out and try it with a friend. All you have to do is go with him a bit. Maybe go to the ground for a split second. But chances are you will be able to return to your feet before he does and run. The thing is, they wouldn't teach it if it didn't work. It is a very common move, and for a move to become common it has to work. Same goes for the other choke release.
I was wondering, what to do, if the choker is lifting you in the air with the choke?
Eecha2000 1 week ago
reverse heel kick to the groin. hard
there's also the stomach or an elbow to the side of the ribs.
if you're flexible you can even hook your feet under the outside if the knees, and use your powerful leg muscles to kick them out.
but i prefer the groin kick, as i'm sure you will.

This looks dangerous to me.
A normal person will not let go of the choke and it could likely cause serious injury to the girls neck.
Also, the choke is so quick and strong that i seriously doubt she will be able to throw him.
This is from my own experience of grappling regularly with beginner grapplers and "normal" people.
They dont let go of the choke and they squeeze damn HARD!!!
