Robert Fripp's bass lessons fell into good ground with Boz Burrell"
Bad Company, the first and only real "super group" of the 70's and with Cream the best super group of all time. Boz Burrell great bass lines to make the song better, and when being "tight" for a musician was not reference to the cloths worn.
Just remembered the Great British music festival was at Olympia...
It was this huge glass building ,amazing to remember. Wish i'd gone to America then to see just how big Bad Co had become.
Trust me though Free were more than a match for Zep. So sad about Koss, i still listen to Free and they give me shivers, they were so good and so young( 18 1st album and 23 last album). These days( i sound old) there is no virtuosity in music, when you find a person than can ACTUALLY sing its a rarity.
The Mick Ralphs ethos: don't use sixteen notes when one will do. My first gig was Bad Co at the great British Music Festival in Jan 1975 but this'll likely be the Rainbow in London, what with the big rainbow there.. :)
azkeyz... Oh but modern woman is also "vein".... bottom line....from an independent woman(not feminist)...sex is good....give and take! One of my favourite Bad Co. songs I grew up with in Mebourne.
A very very inspirational group and music. I was 21 years old about the time bad company came to the music scene. I loved their music instantly. Their band is one of the best groups I have ever heard. To this day I am still a fan of theirs. I sing karaoke and they are amongst the most favorite groups whose songs I love to sing. They are tremendously fabulous and have made a great mark on the music scene that I don't think will ever disapear.
Just to set the record straight, ( I`m fairly certain) this clip was originally from an episode of ABC`s Wide World of Entertainment: "In Concert" from about Jan. or Feb. 1974; although this particular clip was from a "best of" episode aired that Autumn.(That is Keith Moon introducing them.) Bad Company only put out their first album around early `74.
I know YouTube only has limited operating funds; but I wish SOMEONE could identify all the "In Concert" `72-`75 clips and catagorize them better.
This is how to sing & play with SOUL! It takes a heavy hitter like Paul Rodgers to delivery awesome, soulful, and intense vocals. Along w/ Mick Ralphs & Simon Kirk (from Free), they crafted some of classic rocks finest, most well known anthems. One of my all-time favorite musicians. I love his career roster, Free. Bad Co. The Firm, The Law, multiple solo projects. Hall of Fame talent indeed.
I am now ...£&@ years older than when this was first released...but this song, and I have to say,Paul Rodgers in particular, still have the same effect on me.....excuse me while I log off for a while....!!!!!
Back in the days when truckies had a quad shassy in the back to fuck 4 hookers at a time. Maybe it should be re-named to "cant get enough of your lust".
@metachozoite - then 10 years later a young man takes that marshall sound and adulterates it...his name was eddie van halen."
Try barely 3 years, this concert was in 1974 and Van Halens first album with its famous "Brown" sound was recorded in 1977. Damm the 70's was an era of such rapid musical expansion. Take David Bowie in 1971, then 74-75, then 78-79, amazing it was a decade like no other for variety, from soft rock singer song writer, glam rock, hard rock, punk to disco.
Attention Drummers/musicians!!! Get the book "realistic rock" by Carmine Appice!! If you like 60's-70's rock drumming it's the Bible. It turned my hopeless brother into a real rock guy. He would work on it every day and half way through the book and after learning the first Zeppelin record beat for beat he would go back to the jams and sound exactly like Simon Kirk of Free and Bad Company...with bonham fills to boot. It could save rock drumming im serious. Amazon.com
thank god led zeppelin saw their potential and signed them to swan song, also they were ronnie van zants and gary rossingtons fave band ,they even named their bass boat BAD COMPANY
@justmemother2 Why would they be able to anyway? It's not like they are the same style of music. Why the fuck do people always bring these fuckers up in every thread?
He's a pretty decent guitar player. He did a few solos here and there with Bad Company. Check out the guitar playing on "Cut Loose" where he plays all instruments.
@Freyja1133 I have never really seen him play a guitar on stage until this video. But no he's always just singing being a front man. Its kinda like Mick Jagger with a guitar back in 78 on stage.
@Freyja1133 sure do. Whitesnake is a prime example of cock rock in my book. Maybe throw some Night Ranger in there too so you can add on inches to the cock rock gene.
@rocknrolla81 my guess would be that PAul Rodgers is the Opposite of Kevin Cronin ( REO Speedwagon's Frontman)... Kevin Cronin plays both guitar& Piano As well as being ReO's Frontman
@rocknrolla81 Rodgers usually plays an acoustic guitar song during the set plus piano a couple of times-usually Bad Co and Run with the Pack. About half the time he plays a harmonica bit during Feel like Making Love. He played guitar on 2 or 3 songs during the Queen tours. He also played more guitar on the 1999 reunion tour. Look up "Take Love" and "Mr Midnight" or Muddy Water Blues which are more songs he plays guitar live.
I usually don't comment on my youth days in hard rock, but this video is just great. I remember Britain's INCONCERT and back then "live" rock bands were the ultimate test as to whether the band really had talent and these guys did! They were tight as a group, everything perfectly insync and Paul Rogers had one of the most gorgeous voices in rock next to Greg Lake. I saw them live twice and Paul's presence - well it was mesmerizing. He made you feel like he was singing only to you.
what kind of relationship does it exists between the Free and Bad Company? Paul was Kossof (the Free's guitar) the guitarrist of Bad Company too? and Mr. Big too?
its awesome how not very many bands back then sounded bad live. now if you go to alot of concerts, you realize how much they have to do in the studio to make them sound better
exgroupiefromelmont Knew of Rodgers from "Free", first cover song I did, pretty much, "Allright Now". Saw these guys open for Edgar Winter. They blew me away, stole the show.
@YetAnotherITGuy I realize the other comment sounds like I'm mocking you. I'm not. It's a legitimate question. I just like to talk to people who got to live during the50's and on cause they have some really cool stories.
ahh...yes. this was back in a time where you had to be talented to be a musician. nowadays all you have to have is huge tits and a big mouth :-/ God what i wouldn't give to have been around back when these songs were hits. I was born in the wrong generation! :-(
Not this again... they ARE plugged in... minute 3.29->3.32 you can see mick's jack plugged.... minute 3.50->3.52 just before the girl you can see rodgers's cable...
And for those who think that rodgers can't play, just see the don kirshner's version that is almost equal...
My brother Markus Bott had been tortured during 5.5 years by the German BND,the former GESTAPO. I recorded more than 100 videotapes which ended up in the legal system. My brother was tortured during 1.5 years despite several legal procedures pending. He was assassinated on July 11th 2009 because of our homepage, linked on my channel, and our book Der Totalitäre Staat. If my homepage disappears, the BND will have assassinated me as well
Thumbs up if you want the BND to stop torturing my parents
I CAN'T!!!! 1974------Great year of music. Miss those LPs and Quad 8 Tracks. We had a Quad system in our 1973 Sports Beetle and Quad in our house. Used to lay on the floor in the middle of the speakers and listen to "Dark Side of the Moon". The bells would revolve around the room and our dog would bark at some of the sounds coming out of one of the speakers! Great days...
@Charleybones The guitars and vocals are live. This is not the studio version which I have listened to a few hundred times. I can't answer your question about "plugged in" but the guitars and bass match match the music and is just imperfect enough that I believe this is 100% live.
Just listen to the music...Rodger's Guitar was plugged in... There's a twin lead solo at 2.00 and a very low volume solo from paul by the 2.54 minute...
Just saw them tonight at L.A. Fairplex! I can't ever get enough Paul Rodgers. Love that man. Awesome voice, brilliant stage presence, and good to his audience. And still lovely to look at. Come back soon, baby!
Has anyone else noticed their guitars aren't plugged into anything? They're not wearing the transmitter pack things either, and did they even have that technology back in '73 or '74 anyway? Love this song and the band anyway. Thanks for the great clip!
@MyCatHasNoTeeth almost all rock bands that put out music videos back then lip synced unless it was an actual live videoi.e. the ventures walk dont run
@MrZix16 We all have different tastes.... Zep. Stones. Bad Co. How could you even compare G&R with them??? G&R rocks, but come on who did first and better????
@sdsck Yea Paul Rodgers is pretty good on guitar. Seen Bad Company 7 times. Got to sing with them on stage in Austin, Tx.. Pictures to prove it...lmao
I saw bad company in 1975,, niagara falls convention center. Great concert. They played here recently, 35 years later. I could sing along with every song.
I wish I could have the money to fix my 1971 Dart GT that is parked in my garage in Juarez Mexico ....driving this car and listening to this fine music!!!!!!

@Matlike1 They are a fine band, but somehow i find it strange that Bozz Burrel
joined a mainstream rock n' roll band after his experience with Robert Fripp in the KING CRIMSON.

Rogers isn't Even plugged in. He is the original Air Guitar Legend.
Charleybones 1 year ago
@Charleybones If you look closely you will see Mick and Boz are also not plugged in, they didn't need to be.
caslox 1 year ago
