You dont really need a kit... Get yourself a nice pic chip with a couple of outputs (well.. you can use multiplexer to use more, to complicated perhaps for now) and just wire like the image shows you. Dont forget the resistor :)

I should say that I really didnt use boards I need to solder.. Just a breadlessboard

I think you can select which one u want, 9v battery or DC 9v
