  • One of the best. So good.

  • I work for GAP and dunno why we no longer advertise on tv in the UK. This ad was top!

  • I love that video!

  • i love gap commercials

  • It's almost Stewie Griffin's "Sexy Party" choreography, and I love that! If onnly it was Bob Fosse!

  • @GenXJeff35 uuuhh, actually it is Fosse's choreography. They're doing the dance steps from 'The Rich Man's Frug' in Sweet Charity which he choreographed.

  • those are sooo the dancers from austin powers 3!!!

  • that looks like so much fun

  • OMG! I totally want to wear khaki now.

  • what ugly pants...

  • I need to go outside right now and do this. There better be some people willing to dance with me.

  • @olexia07 We can have a dance off.

  • @PrettiNikkiRIghtLEft let's do it!

  • @olexia07 It's on.

  • Man this is some super-funky shit...

You know this is how our parents used to dance, right?

  • i love the man in the center

  • LOL I fuckin LOVEEE IT!

  • it's amusing to read numerous other comments that I wasn't the only one to immediately recognize the dance moves from "Sweet Charity".

im looking for this 1 particular gap commercial but cant find it....it came on around 1998-1999......and some of the words go like this...(oh and its a white man singin)...

  • Whoops you already know that, you can get it at Blow Up records on compilation. Check out Alan Hawkshaw of the same era and sound.

  • It's called Blow Up. Go-Go by James Clarke

  • Where can I get this song? I can't find it anywhere!!!

  • DAMN i loved this commercial....exxcellentt

  • dude I loooved this commerical. I was in Sweet Charity in high school.. and obsessed over the dance number and instantly recognized the Fosse like choreography. I just wish they used the same song as the Rich Mans Fruge. Actually I guess this works better

  • This is what I want my funeral to look like.

  • ME TOO!

  • Your's may be the funniest comment I heard on youtube yet.

  • LOL!!

  • @glenohio LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOO !!!

  • @glenohio BRILLIANT

  • Best. Commercial. Ever.

(I can't believe this was 11 years ago! I'm getting old.)

  • You. Are. So. Right.

  • Cool as hell.

  • i don't shop at the Gap - but i must admit some of their ads are superasscool - like this one... great dancing!!!

  • The choreography is from the Rich Man's Frug in Sweet Charity, by Bob Fosse

  • I just checked out that sequence in the movie -- I'm extremely impressed you made the connection.

It's incredibly rich, sensual classic Fosse work.

    Thanks for the observation...

  • @auroragingerkitty I disagree. this type of dancing was all over the place in the 60s. it wasnt invented by the oh so overrated Fosse.

  • This is my favorite of the Gap commercials.

  • Comment removed

  • I enjoyed this commercial so much when it first came out that I actually started shopping at the Gap.

  • What is the name of the dancer in the center at the beginning with the curly hair? He's really good!!

  • Kevin Stae. He's toured with Madonna, walked runway for CK, Tommy, Coultier, and was in "Naked Boys Singing" if you want to see...ahem...More of him :-P

  • He really is, and cute too! :P

  • My favourite Gap commercial EVER!

  • My ALL TIME favourite commercial...

  • HAHAHAHAHA!!! I REMEBER THIS

  • i looove thiss

  • This was my fave of the Gap campaign.

    HIGHLY successful campaign at that.

  • This was an awesome fun commercial! I was stoked by being part of this American tradition. Fall into the Gap!

  • GAP pays 3rd party contractors its employees $0.77/ day in Indonesia & Malaysia

    borderline slave labour

  • G A P

    a n r

    y d o u d

  • Ironic that you can spell ayn rand with those two lines.

  • I seem to remember at the time, she was talking about choreographing this. She had to keep yelling at the dancers not to smile, she wanted an intense look on their faces. Toni is definitely the go-to gal for this type of period dance. She was the assistant choreographer on "Shindig!" in the 60's, so she knows that style backwards and forwards.

  • ♥ gap

  • I want to learn to go go dance like this

  • Gap had the best commercials of the 90's.

  • i was 4 when this aired :D

  • You're 4 now! Admit it!

  • Oh god... this is already 10 years old?!?!?

    I'm feeling my age.

Gotta love the Fosse-esque choreography and wow Kevin Stea?!?! sweet

  • who is Kevin Stea? is he the guy in the first part...looks Asian?

  • Yep! That's the one.

  • he's ssssssssssssmokin'

  • 1999??!!....REALLY? It's been that long?

Oh well I love!I remember it like it was only a year or 2 ago.

  • agreed i'm starting to feel old here

  • YEAH BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Does anyone know the identity of the blonde dancer in yellow who jumps to the center of the floor at .22? She is my exact double...my own family thought it was me! I've always wanted to know who my doppelganger is. I wish it had been me...great commercial!

  • I love the fosse choreography!!!!!

  • omg I love this commercial.

  • The guy reminds me of Dane Cook. Lmfao.

  • The way they dance is soooo Austin Powers-like...XD

  • And suddenly commercials were transformed from ads into music videos. And the public ate it with a spoon. Those were the days.

  • I think this commercial aired back around Fall, 1998. Great ad campaign.

  • This was way back when the gap was like old navy...lol

  • I love how there commercials are from SOOOOO long ago, yet we're still searching for & watching them

  • the ad is great - so many snobs on youtube - if the gap were smart (which they're not) they'd still be running this spot - def. their best.

  • okay so, the advert si cool and all, but if you actually look at the outfits, they're still terrible

and I don't mind gap, but seriously...

  • It's supposed to advertise khakis...their tops don't matter

  • This ad makes me ashamed to be a white person. :( How corny.

  • strangely..the dancing and the music remind me of Austin Powers ..

  • it's the same person who did both

  • does anyone know the name of the cute main male dancer??

  • if youre talking about the guy in the middle its kevin stea-he was in newsies! LOVE him. hes in a show called naked boys singing right now.... :)

  • Kevin Stea is asian.. the cute boy in the middle isn't..

  • well the one in the middle is definitely kevin stea...it's for sure.

  • if you're refering to the one with the big hair in the middle he was one of madonna's dancers. he was in her Truth or Dare movie. he was also a dancer in the movie Showgirls but had just a few lines in it. but i don't know his name. he's a great dancer though. total flamer but hey....

  • + 2 trivia points

    + 1 gaydar detection point

  • Do bad the gap doesn't make commercials like this anymore. Now they rely on celebrities and telling us what is cool, insteaad of showing us what's cool.

  • The choreography is all based on the Frug from Sweet Charity anyway so whoever did it ain't exactly being original. It doesn't really go with the music.

  • Westside Story, Mellow yellow, and dress you up are all better than this one

  • Coolest Gap commercial Ever...

  • Yeah go go dancing doesn't look as good in Khakis as it does in mod wear!

  • Diane Mizota is in this!!!

  • This wasn't choreographed by Toni Basil, it was done by Marguerite Dericks who did the Austin Powers movies.

  • does anybody remeber the gap commercial with the little kids doing a remix to the beetles "you really got me"

  • It was the Kinks

  • shaggycub's right; it was choreographed by Toni Basil. Is there anything she can't do?

  • im sure there was another one that used this music

  • YEAH Fosse!

  • This was my favorite one out of the series, I LOVE KHAKI GO-GO!

  • My favorite also.

  • I know I'll probably get slammed by Fosse fans, but personally I much prefer this performance to the "Rich Man's Frug".

  • I love it.. it's so "Rich Man's Frug" from Sweet Charity.

  • Probably the best gap ad ever - tied, maybe, with Khaki's Jive/Rock (can't remember which.)

  • I always liked that part in Sweet Charity (1969). This classic dance number from Fosse was actually recreated for the commercial from the movie I read a while back.

  • This music is from Sweet Charity?

  • I've always got my eyes locked on that male dancer in the center. Man, he is cuuute!

  • Any foem of 'dancing' is the devils work.

  • I love the Gap khaki commercials! This is by far my favorite, along with the swing and country one. The rock was kind boring, and the soul one was ok.

  • I remember this commercial...this was my favorite gap ad out of all of them...this one along with the one that had the "Dress you up in my love" song

  • hahahaha it looks like they recreated fosse's rich man's frug lol. kinda cool

  • Love it!

  • That was one groovy ad!

  • why can't gap make commecials like this anymore? I like this because it's not about some celebrity or some product but it's just about high energy and cool dancing.

  • This is such a cool clip. I remember this ad campaign at the time, but sadly never managed to catch this particular one on TV :-( The only one I ever managed to catch was the swing dance once. If I'm not mistaken, I believe the choreographer for this was Toni Basil.

  • I love this CM too. It makes me want to get up and dance also. Is the 'blow up a gogo' the actual song or what is it and who's the artist? I tried to search for it but didn't come up with it?

  • I could watch this over and over again... does anybody have the GapKids commercial set to the Jingle Bells remix?? I miss that one and am desperately trying to find it!

  • I miss these old Gap commercials

  • me 2

  • I absolutely love Kevin Stea! He's such a talented guy!

  • Funny thing is that Kevin is also in the Austin Powers movie doing about the same dance moves during the opening credits...
