Whilst Kimbo doesnt have the ring experience, I believe hes taller with greater reach which always holds advantage. But Mercer. Wow, some of those uppercuts from Lewis were A. Bombs and he just stood there and took it.

I dunno what fight you were watching mate, but our lennox was nearly taking mercers head off, i watched that fight live way back when and to was lewis more technical and accuracy ability than won the day, but i have total respect for ray mercer, and it was a great fight..

We know Mercer is well out of his prime. He will still win in a standup. The only possibility is that if Kimbo has trained to take it to the ground, he stands a chance, but, we have seen no indication that he will or knows how to take it to the ground. Mercer did look awful against Bonjasky Hadn't trained for kicks obviously). Kimbo can't kick though.

Mercer looks somewhat out of shape. This is not an indicator of skill of course (Look: Lidell). His previous BOXING fights he was "soft" looking but crushed people. I see Age being a possible obstacle. The fact that he anticipates a boxing fight is also detremental. I see MR. Slice as the favorite in this one.

Obviously that version of Ray Mercer would DESTROY kimbo, but that fight was MANY MANY years ago. I think Ray Mercer is 43 years old now, and has taken a couple of bad beatings on his way out of boxing. I still favor Mercer to beat kimbo, but don't fool yourself into thinking Mercer is still anywhere near his best.

We should mention that yes this fight versus LennoxLewis was in 1996 and he was 35 years old, he trained only 2 weeks for that fight and was out of shape yet many people still argue today that he was robbed on the scorecards, Lewis got the split decision.

anyway nothing is more than kimbo in terms of boxing skills, kimbo has none, Mercer was an Olympic Gold medallist. Interestingly Mercer won his gold at the same Olympics as Lennox Lewis. Mercer at Heavyweight and Lewis at Superheavyweight.

He looks in simalar shape in the video of him and kimbo in the cage a few weeks ago, he has been training since january, he was due to box former world champion Rahman but Rahman pulled out so when this fight came up he said he was already in the best shape for the last 7 years. I thought it was national geographic channel! Yeah good programme that, the boxer had the hardest punch but the most damaging stike of all to the body was the mauy thai knee to the chest. The most all round devastating and useful martial art in all situations was found to be the ninja, they even had a ninja demonstrate the death punch on the crash test dummy to show how it would stop your heart.

that's true, but this fight is MMA rules. slice does train with MMA guys, but I've seen nothing that demonstrates a ground game...we'll see. with that, he probably has a better chance if the fight goes to the ground, but I really doubt 2 pure boxing guys are gonna take the fight to the ground, more than likly only if ray clocks slice, or slice gets winded.

Lewis`s next fight was a title shot and Mercer got Hepatitis later that year and didnt box for near on 2 years, by then Lewis was champion and Mercer was fighting bums and was unranked. There was never a window of opportunity for a rematch.

And even these 2 styles are different from UFC type stuff. Liddell would batter Kimbo in UFC, but in bare knuckle boxing Kimbo would prob win.
