  • Looks like the old MTA was prescient 'cause they painted a big orange stripe on the bottom half of the train car.

  • Old Charlestown!

  • The old Schraffts Building @ 0:19!!! :D

  • In '64 when the MTA became the MBTA / T and all the lines color-coded, this line was called the Orange Line, for the last 11 years it existed. This station is Sullivan Square. Based on the billboards with the green outer frames, and the car traffic on Rt. 99, this film looks to be from the 1950's.

  • This is from when the Orange Line, it wasn't called that then, went from Forest Hills to Everett. The station is City Square in Charlestown.

  • I remember an elevated train going by the Hood Milk Co. with the giant milk bottle on top when I was a kid in the early 70's. Anyone remember if this was the commuter rail?

  • 0:18 The Schraffts Building?? WOW

  • @danthomastherocker1 My aunt worked there. I always got some great chocolate from her. I am sure you know that the building, sign and clock remain. It's a landmark.

  • I rode this line dozens of times with my father, & I was on the "last ride" of this line in April 1975. The ffinal train went from Everett Station to Haymarket in Boston, and then after that the Everett Elevated never ran again. The line to Wellington & Oak Grove replaced it.

Everett Orange Line Station was located on Rte. 99 in Everett MA where "Honda Cars of Boston" & "McDonald's" are today.

I was 3-1/2 years old on the "last ride" and I am now 38. Thanks so much for the great memories.

  • @jfkclock Thanks for the location, I had been trying to figure that out for a while.

  • @jfkclock I read an article that said that by the time the last inbound train from Everett got to Haymarket that the track was already dismantled and coming down at Everett station. Too bad the T doesn't have that same kind of efficiency nowadays lol I used to live by Fenway station and it took them 2 years to build a staircase from Park Dr. down onto the platform. 2 years!!!! Welcome to Boston, where the government gives out fat union contracts to their pals and they milk it while we wait.

  • Awesome! Any more El footage?
