The best female country singer of all time singing this song beautifully. The only version of this that might come close to being better is if she sang it with Vince Gill.
I love patty loveless. ive done many of her songs from the same album as this one called sleepless nights and on dec.5 i want to think is when i will be performing a few of these at the mcgee steele show.
This is the best female voice in Country music.....And if I was Tonya Tucker I would have been embarrassed to cut a version of this track......Not even close.
If it's possible to love a woman you have only seen from 10 ft away, then I love Patty. Have for many, many years. This song has Ray Price's version beat every way from sideways and I liked his before I heard Patty's.
Patty is one fine lady that sing's real country music the old and right way from her heart ..not from her bank account this bunch of fake country singer's that have hijacked country music will be the down fall of Nashville as the Music Capital It is all but hanging on now Dick Clark and his group killed TNN when they bought that several year's a go
It looks like Nashville would listen to these comments. It is very clear to me folks like real country, not the closet rock, all-sounds-alike junk they are producing today. It takes talent, good pickin', and steel guitars to make real country music. Throw in some twin fiddles and you add frosting to the cake.
Believe me, I met her in person two years ago. She is a beautiful woman. Even after 2+ hours of singing her heart and soul out to us. As beautiful now as ever. Very sweet and kind! Love Patty!
Id like to shove this into the face of every moron who says the 80s provided nothing to country music. Patty is an awesome woman, and such an incredible singer. She has such style and talent, something that is totally missing from music today.
I HAVE TO AGREE WITH WHAT EDDIE STUBS SAID. IT IS THE BEST TRADITIONAL COUNTRY MUSIC HE HAS HERD IN A LONG TIME. I AGREE 1OOO. PERCENT. IT DONT GET ANY BETTER THAN PATTY ON THIS CD. I HAVE THIS CD. IT IS GREAT MUSIC. I LOVE THE STEEL GUITAR IN IT. I HAVE A 8 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WHO HAS FELL IN LOVE WITH IT. SHE SINGS ALONG WITH PATTY ON WHY BABY WHY. MY FAVORITE IS THERE STANDS THE GLASS. A MUST FOR ANY COUNTRY LOVER. GOD BLESS YOU PATTY HE HAS SURE GIVEN YOU A GIFT. TOMMY PATTERSON BARDSTOWN KY
I begin to float when Patty sings. I'm just relieved that Patty's singing can't be refined into some kind of white powder, because I'd be hintin' the vein.
Patty. You are the very best. Anyone who agrees with me has very good taste in music. Loved seeing her do this live twice. Mesmerized! Still mesmerized to this day!
Patsy was good but I doubt even she could come close to expressing the emotion in this song as well as Patty. Even the expressions on her face as she sings, she is totally believable.
Even more beautiful than she was 20 years ago! Loved her then and still love her now..and her voice even sounds the same! A REAL country female singer. I love you Patty!

I had to listen again and again of Patty's lovely song and voice''' and the more I hear of her the more I can hear Patsy Cline' in her, and thats the biggest compliment I can give her, as Patsy to me was the greatest.
Y es I can only agree with what all others have to say about Patty, a true country singer and yes without u tube a lot of us would never hear so many great artists. Thanks for posting and u tube.
ABSOLUTELY WOW!!!!!! I always knew Patty Loveless had a beautiful and powerful voice and once again she proves that with her beautiful rendition of this classic song
A new generation growing up without the option of choosing real country music such as this. It's sad. Thank God for You Tube and people who care enough to help preserve it.
I collect and listen to all kinds of music. Everything from rock and roll to jazz, classical, opera, bluegrass.....and I have to say, that I think that Patty Loveless is one of the greatest talents in all of music. I don't know what she is like as a person, but through her music, she projects someone who is kind, generous, and genuine. She is the real deal.
Just listen to this flower belt it out. In the first phrase she let's us know in no uncertain terms she owns this piece! She takes a back seat to no one with this performance. No Whitney Huston wanna be here. Patty stands on her own. Steady notes with perfect pitch. How refreshing! I am sick to death of the Whitney Huston style all the new female performers use. It was nice back in the day, and I give Whitney her due. But, they have beat it to f-ing death. Bury it. It's boring and it's dead!
I can't count the versions of this song I've heard, but, one thing for sure...Patty Loveless has MADE this song her own. The ache in this woman's voice is real, which may be bad for her, but wonderful to we listeners. Patty is like a fine bottle of wine....she improves with age, and this lady has never sounded more comfortable or sure of herself. Easily the finest female country singer since Patsy and Loretta, Patty is the Real-Deal and we fans are eternally grateful.
Patty choses the right players! Al Perkins.....yup! And don't forget Deannie Richardson on fiddle. Someone needs to remind Deannie to get that self-titled CD out. I'm from Texas. I love the fiddle sound, and the group of players that were assembled to do this Project represent a REAL country sound, not the 'Nuevo Nashville' prepped and canned sound that is touted as todays country. Keep it up, Patty.
I was fortunate enough to have ms. Loveless in my Limo for a night on the town in Nashville, soon after chains was released. What a class act and real, Iv'e kept up with pattys music and play it all the time! A diverse, attractive girl everyone wants to live next door to! Thanks Patty, you are the best!
Patty is right up there with the great traditionalist country artists. What a magnificent version of one of country music's most classic songs...complete with a good ol' steel guitar! THANKS SO MUCH for sharing this delightful musical treasure with us! :)
patty loveless has that old pained country ass voice, love it always have......I do love patsy doing this though, somehow upbeat, but still sound like her hearts being ripped out of her chest........Two great singers...
I grew up in Union, Nebraska, a small town of 300. I've lived in Maryland for 26 years, and still play my country music. Crazy Arms by Patty Loveless is one of my all time favorites. It's Sunday night, and I have to go to work tomorrow, and I just needed to hear this tonight before going to bed. JP
@mooseandchut I grew up in West Hartford CT a town of 60,000 and I have to listen to this song at least once a day. I feel like I should have grown up in a smaller town. I love this to death. I love her music until I die!
Amazing singing performance from Patty Loveless - she really has a great voice that on this song is as good as it gets. In the same league as Gene Watson's Farewell Party, Patty's version of Crazy Arms is priceless (an appalling pun, but accidental!). Ray Price would be proud of this version of Ralph Mooney's great song . . .
tryonov1965...I couldn't agree with you more!! I have said this so many times, what is wrong with these LOSERS in Nashville to allow country music being butchered by kids that are not even old enough to wipe their own bums! I hope I'll see the day where steel guitar and traditional country coming back! I am not trying to bash the younger signers..its record executives that allowed this to happen -- DRIVEN 100% by GREED!
now thats country!!!!! not like that crap they play on radio today....taylor swift and them other so called woman country singers of today aint in the same class as Patty Loveless .
Sometimes it's good to hear such vocal quality...it doesn't seem to mean anything anymore. Country music today is becoming like MTV, drama, silliness, classless and talentless.
every aspiring country singer should listen to this and attempt to be half as good. Then country would be on it's way back to what it should be. Patty is the absolute best there is!
There are singers... and then there are "SINGERS"! There are steel guitar players... and then there are "STEEL GUITAR PLAYERS"! This video typifies what true "country music" is supposed to be. I haven't heard better than this version by this girl and her back-up band. Thank you thank you thank you Patty!
@FlashKW1 Exactly! The "twinkies" these days can't hold a candle to people like Patty Loveless, Patty Griffin, Joni Mitchell, Patsy Cline, etc, Christina Aguilera and Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey and Celine Dion (the ones they call "singers" these days) are nothing but vocal acrobats.
Geesh, I forgot how great Patty was. You could take all these new girl coun..well almost country something, put them all in Patty's 3 day old stinking shoe combined and that's about the talent they have compared to her...She is certainly top 5 in history.
I have THE SLEEPLESS NIGHTS C.D. FANTASTIC older songs we ALL LOVED! When she starts into-"There Stands The Glass" - Gives me SHIVERS! I ADORE Patty, and that VOICE!!!
No one does truly soulful traditional country like Patty Loveless. I'm so glad she returned to that with this album. I listen to very little country music, but I will always listen to her. She gives me goosebumps!
Out of all the videos of hers on Youtube it seems this one gets the most positive comments. I have to say that when I saw her do this live, I teared up. Which is hard for me to do especially sober. It is because she lives the song when she sings. I will never forget that night. Thanks Patty for recording this and your new Mountain Soul II record. You are the very best at what you do!
Saw Patty many years in concert. Voice is still clear, strong, and cuts to the heart! She's a classic country singer. As long as she leaves the "pop" sound alone! When she sings a song like this, she's right up there with the best.
I hope she still wlll do videos! this is the only media I get of my favorite artist!!! other than getting to listen to her albums!! her videos are so worth watching over and over ...I'm gay and still I find her so beautiful to watch LOL :-) simply amazing!!!
When I heard this song I knew I had to get the album. It was well worth it. This is the best version of this song, ever. Tanya Tucker has a new one of it (and she's my favorite country singer of all time), but Patty's delivery is just unreal. Not to mention the pedal steel work in this one.
My favorite singer singing my favorite classic country song perfectly! The steel guitar hurts me bad in a real good way! She knows what country music should sound like.
You said you have physical disabilities, is it your hearing? Patty Loveless is a great country singer. Patsy Cline understood the music industry as well as anyone and I think she would be happy a song she recorded would be recorded again 45 years later by a fellow Grand Ole Opry member.
Happy birthday Miss Patty. You're the best.

Hands down the best female country voice today. The first time I heard this song I thought I was in heaven... always loved Patty.

This is my favorite version of this song as well. Patty Loveless is soulful and makes this song her own. Damn! She is so talented.

Love Patty Loveless's music! Just hearing this song for the first time, find it really beautiful and true to the country roots.
Also, that is one gorgeous house the video was shot in. Did you catch a look at that beautiful fireplace mantle and mirrored overmantle? Priceless!

No one does truly soulful traditional country like Patty Loveless. I'm so glad she returned to that with this album. I listen to very little country music, but I will always listen to her. She gives me goosebumps!

what a nice voice.I like playing this video.Hi Patty.

One of the prettiest country songs sang by the best female singer ever to sing country music.

When I heard this song I knew I had to get the album. It was well worth it. This is the best version of this song, ever. Tanya Tucker has a new one of it (and she's my favorite country singer of all time), but Patty's delivery is just unreal. Not to mention the pedal steel work in this one.

Very few singers can can deliver the goods like Patty, she cuts to the bone marrow, what a beautful voice she has

This is country plain, simple, pure with a song that tells a real heartfelt story. Excellent choice of material delivered with honesty and emotion.

Hey sid"DICK", you want bites? Bite me.
You said you have physical disabilities, is it your hearing? Patty Loveless is a great country singer. Patsy Cline understood the music industry as well as anyone and I think she would be happy a song she recorded would be recorded again 45 years later by a fellow Grand Ole Opry member.

No,Patty doesn't have the best voice in country music.Even she has said this herself.
Doesn't matter. She has plenty of fans, and a spot forever in country music....I love her!
