AAX has got to be the metal/rock drummers wet dream.. they shimmer and explode under your stick. they're bright and powerful when you need them and yet can be subtle and give you that roar like distant thunder when it's quiet.

Sabian shit all over ZHT... So many rock & metal bands use Zil and that is what lacks in the drumming... Ben Gillies used the AAX range on Frogstomp and Freakshow that is why he's hi-hat use has always sounded to crip, that chingy sound ya just love and loud to... I have never split or broken a sabian cymbal before, my AA crash is 15 years old, still has logo with no stick marks... Ive much around on zil and worst of all pastie... Sabian fucking Rules!

I used to only play Zildjian. Now I'm switching to Sabian. I just got an AA Metal X China and waiting on an AAX Xplosion splash and I love Sabian!

Honestly, the difference between Zildjian and Sabian is brightness. (Overall of course)

Also depends on the drummer, Zildjian is often best for live/stage play and Sabian is for studio play, again, due to brightness and cutting

AAX by far. I'm not even saying that as a Sabian fan (which I admittedly am) but as a drummer in general. ZHTs are sheet cymbals, and AAX are cast. That fact alone makes the two incomparable. AAX is the definite choice.

sabian has always been my cymbal. they are just amazing cymbals. like the x-cellerator hi-hats are the best things ive heard in a while! dont get me wrong zildjian and paiste are great to, but i love AAX from sabian. and personally i love the dark series from AAX, the 18" crash is amazing.

It depends. X=Plosions have a medium pitched sound with a lot of body, Metals have high power/high volume, the darks provide a low pitch but with bright focus, studios give a light crisp tone and stage gives chunkier brighter sounds. I personally love the Metals, but the best thing to do is try all of em' out at a local store and experience 1 for urself.

I love them, I use them. My only beef is that the AAX stage ride doens't cut enough live and its called a stage ride. So Im saying the AAX Stage Ride DOES need micing.
