Don't let your birds raise more than two clutches of babies a year. Make sure the mother has plenty of calcium (from cuttlefish bone or liquid calcium supplement). I put out rolled oats (uncooked oatmeal), regular canary seed, fruit (such as thinly sliced apple) and carefully washed dark greens (romaine lettuce, broccoli heads). I also make sure that they have hard boiled egg yolk, but only for an hour or so, unless they eat it all up. It will spoil at room temperature if left out too long.
A good mother. The baby's crop is full! She looks like my hen, Rusty. Maxx, it takes about two weeks for the eggs to hatch. If your bird has been sitting over three weeks, the eggs are infertile.
