@Hilamonsta yeah, its slim pickins out there. i told them i wanted to be 03, reality is 03 is the most saught after position is the USMC so they had to do some digging to find a 03 position near me....
@ericrules95 You fill out a wish list at School of Infantry of what you'd prefer but there's no guarantee the instructors will follow your pref. Instructors do a sort of draft
@Jimmymillmo Assuming we're talking about assaultmen acting in only an anti-vehicle/armor capacity... there's a standard loadout and a loadout determined by the leadership but the standard loadout is very similar to the basic loadout of an nonspecializing rifleman in a squad. 9mm Beretta will can either replace or supplement an M16 or M4 for the gunner who carries the launcher (+ rockets) but the A-Gunner have very similar gear to a standard rifleman in their loadout. Book method, of course
@excubitorcaecus Kenny Wayne Shepherd - Blue on Black and a song from The Matrix OST... both of which temporarily banned the video for a few days while I explained to YouTube what Fair Use meant *sigh*
how long have you been a assault man,is that what you wanted to do after high school, was it hard to get the mos after basic training, would you recommend this mos and if so any tips,I'm 17 and are thinking about joining the marines and cant chose between this and artillery crewmember sorry for asking so many questions I'm young and want to know what I'm getting myself into
@evoldevildogs USMC doesnt guarantee any job only job fields. check out the job fields so you know that if you dont get a certain job what others you could end up in.
Thats a damn shame bro, crossover to 0352, only escape or try going LAR. A wierd thing i've read on hear, guys saying they are signing up for 51's....we went to SOI (ITB) and they gave us our MOS based on GT scores. You can sign up for 51's now from your recruiter, wierd.
@WhiskeyBravo93 we got wishlists and performers got what they wished for in most cases.
Yeah that is weird if it is true that recruiters can get poolees anything more specific than UH infantry option...buut they've got contract recon so whatevs
0351's????? I was 1/6 bravo in 1995, they said they were doing away with 51's and our cutting score was 1700 plus, took like 4 fucking years to get Cpl, are they still fucking over the assault section or what?
@Hilamonsta Iam going Infantry, what do you think of being an Assault-man, i want that or just straight up rifleman, i meet scores to be an assault-men by the way
@WAGAUFFIN its a lot of fun when you get t do your job in combat and not be. "Just" another rifleman. But that isn't always how things go. Learn basic algebra for SOI
@Hilamonsta how long have you been a assault man,is that what you wanted to do after high school, was it hard to get the mos after basic training, would you recommend this mos and if so any tips,I'm 17 and are thinking about joining the marines and cant chose between this and artillery crewmember sorry for asking so many questions I'm young and want to know what I'm getting myself into
@WhiskeyBravo93 Nope, when i went through ITB about 6 months ago they still had 51's they just have them in every other company, you will either have 52's or 51's in your company not both
@TubeBent I'm not an expert but the rep from the VA informed me during a brief that the Army and the Marine Corps have the same numerical designators for their MOSs (0351 in this case) so I would imagine that they are both called something similar
Your recruiter can get you any general category of MOS that he wants if he knows what he's doing and makes things happen. It's a negotiation. Don't sign a contract that you're not 100% happy with.
The only assaultmen who would carry anything besides a rifle would be the gunners...the guys shooting the SMAW rockets. It depends on how the unit you're in divvies out the weapons. Personally, I carried an M16 with my launcher in Afghanistan last time, but when we got back I was issued an M4 rifle and then later on it was changed out for an M9 pistol.
no, one guy wouldn't carry all of that. The loadouts are like this:
Gunner: 1 firearm, 1 SMAW launcher & 1 rocket
Assistant Gunner: 1 firearm, & 2+ rockets
add frags and bullets as needed. If the unit is smart, they'll make sure that whatever firearm the gunner is carrying is an M4 or M9, not a M16. the gunners job is to shoot the rocket and the A-gunner defends the gunner. If the gunner is shooting his firearm, something very bad has happened
@TovarishOne depends on your unit. Per TO the gunner rocks the SMAW and the A-gunner carries a rifle. Most good platoon commanders will allow the gunner to pack a rifle, however. The M9 is worthless.
yeah 0351 terminal lance's....i did this range this year but now the glass window is all fucked up from shrapnel and shit....it was sick we also use breaching charges on the little buildings in the background to the right...with a bunch of linear charges, water charges, and oval charges
bro im in force recon and an assaultman, shit is man fun bro check it out, i still do all the grunt shit but when we need something out of the way.... at4 or other explosives its still crazy fun
dont be a 51... when you get to SOI tell them you want to be a 52... trust me, look up the words ''cutting score'' then find the current cutting scores on the internet
I can only attest that 0351 stuff is a lot of fun, certainly compared to 0311, however MaxwellJJ does have a point that our cutting score/composite score for picking up E-4 is ridiculously high while 0352 is ridiculously low. I can't speak to how fun 0352 is compared to '51, however.
hey cool video man, im in DEP under the infantry program and i was thinking of volunteering to be 0351 at SOI. Whats the daily life of an assaultman? What are the different responsibilities that they have? (obviously working with explosives) but what else?
0351s are organized into a Weapons Platoon (along with the other weapons MOSs; machinegunners, mortarmen, TOW Gunners, etc) and are usually off doing their own specialized thing in their assaultmen section when it comes to training that doesn't involve the whole Company. In combat, you're doing the exact same thing as an 0311 Rifleman unless your specialized skills and weapons are needed which is mission-dependant.
It can be very fun as long as you know the safety considerations and are properly trained, as I was. The charges were also set off at a range that was designed for that specific purpose by professionals. Even if you're a US Marine, it's not smart to play with explosives. Safety first always
Hey chad, sorry it took me so long to reply. We've been busy over here in Afghanistan. They are very similar. '51s do everything that '11s do but have more training involving demolitions and another rocket launcher beyond the AT-4 system. They also have a higher cutting score that makes promotion to Corporal more difficult than 0311s
im at ITB right now and begin my 0351 course next week OORAH cant wait
