I have the 32GB version and I totally love it! it's fantastic! I replaced my iTouch 2G for this one and the improvement is amazing, I seriously now look at my friend's iPod touch 2G/3G screen and think they look bad, cause I'm so used to the Retina Display now, it's really a totally awesome device! love it!!! :D

the iPod 4 pretty much IS the iPhone, if you have wifi you can either use a free texting app to text anyone and facetime or skype to make calls, all free. awesome.

Yes, of course! So I think the only con is when you're in the car or out and about and wanting to go on the WiFi, but other than that - it's fantastic.

I think McDonalds has Wi-Fi in about every store now ;)

@SAFOORAH It depends completely on your use of it. For example, if your are strictly using it for music and the occasional app here and there go for a third gen. However, suppose you do begin to play a lot of apps and next year when the new firmware comes out your missing out on some feature you at that point want you won't be able to get it.

So to answer your question in short if you are going to keep it for a long tim be safe and grab a new one. If you use it just for music get the third ;)

If you are planning to use it just for music, then just get a shuffle or classic. You will save a ton of money and get more space for it. I have a friend who has a touch and has no apps on it, or videos. If your not gonna play games or use apps, its a waste of money

If your gonna:

Just music - get a shuffle

Music and videos - Classic

Apps, music, videos, email - Touch

Trust me, touch is more like a PDA than an mp4 player
