xxxDeath9572xxx, Someone bought it from the scrapper in MD. and it went to Morristown & Eire where it was converted to oil fired it ran a few times there and then it was sold to some one in Canda and then sold to some one in WA. now it's up for sale again.
@Conrail6370 - They royally screwed that that conversion to oil firing, though. They basically jammed a flamethrower in there and tried to pass it off as an oil burner. She'll run but she'd either need a proper oil conversion on reverted back to coal.
@Conrail6370 How many different types of whistle did the DL&W use? I've heard recordings of a much higher pitched 3-chime as well, which sounded similar to a PRR 3 chime (although it was distinctly different). Was one for passenger and one for freight?
That is Port Clinton, PA. on the Ex. Reading Company know own by the Reading & Northern. This coal drag was by the Reading & Northern Railroad. it was a Photo Special.
Loco 425s whistle sounds just like 2124 as i remember it did in the 1950s and 60s, 2102 sounds great, on a doubleheader ramble in the 60s 2100 and 2102 had one great sound .you would have loved it Len..
Len, don't be insulted by this, but this video is the favorite of my grandson - to fall asleep by. With the constant chug-chug-chugs and steam whistles and clickity-clack clickity-clacks, it is the most soothing steam train video I have ever found. It's not to say that when he is wide awake - he just loves this video too!!! aaaaAAAAAAaaa aaaaAAAAAaaaa is how he whistles - HHAAA HHAAA HHAAA is how he chug chug chugs and kickity-cack kickity-cack is his clickity-clack and that was at 9 mths.
Of all the videos I watch, this video is a great example of the different sounds of the whistles. From lonesome to mean. My memories of these trains are alive in your video. KUDOS! and great job. Didn't use the spell checker, HA!
So what, your not looking at the title your looking at the video. , A title is only words, if your going to hang on every last letter. I'm glad your perfect Adam.
2102 wore the hooter whistle when it dragged the coal cars, like the reading used on freight, the other was its passenger whistle.
roccotoothycombs 23 hours ago
2100, operable but requires replacement of grates and return to Pennsylvania.
2101, needs total teardown to remediate fire damage, also needs paint.
2102, needs some mechanical work that has been deferred for some reason.
2124, needs complete boiler rebuild.
At least three of them could be run again, all four if you had enough money.
