  • Anybody who calls this stuff generic hasn't listened to Luke's ENTIRE discography. And, what defines a discography as being generic in the first place? What's not to say that he's found HIS SOUND? That's not being generic, that's always been part of the production business. The very fact that when people HEAR a Dr.Luke song can define it as "Oh, that's a Dr. Luke song!" is proof that he's found a signature sound. Glenn Miller anyone?

  • Nah...you don't need all that equipment to make shitty music. You just need a laptop and software, or an iPad these days. But, they need SOMETHING big to measure their egos with, don't they?

  • You need all that equipment to make shitty music.

  • Oh you mad cuz he's stylin on you.

  • He is so talented!

  • edit: from the 50s and 60s who hated 80s music

  • To all the haters you suck this song is about having fun not living up to the need for complicated hog wash...just relax and enjoy ..katy you make me smile..ty

  • @nneewwbbee No I do not suck, mate. Not all songs are supposed to be about having fun, espeically when some of Katy Perry's songs are mean't to be the opposite. Yet, all her songs are TRYING to sound like that, and as a result, there is no life, no emotion, and only repetitive feelings on her songs. Besides, Katy Perry isn't the one making the music and the credit should really be going for Dr Luke, but I guess the music industry works that way, so I can't complain about that.

  • PS: Quincy Jones is the real producer and its a million times better than this shit music.

  • @judenihal Define a 'real' producer mate. Yeh Quincy is great, but you speakin' wack. You shouldn't comment your trash talk man.

  • @Magnifikate A real producer puts his talent and emotion to the track. New music are lacking it and furthermore, they sounds all the same. Same beats, same synth choice. Earlier producers from the 90s and earlier are so much better and diverse with their sound choice.

  • @judenihal Dear lord... You obviously just don't understand talent mate.

What you said is just like saying that young people these days are idiots. No thats wrong, its just things change, some better in some areas, some not so good in other areas.

It comes down to personal preference. Obviously you've been outnumbered by your stupidity.

    But anyway,

  • @Magnifikate You can't clain like that without a reasoning. I am not stupid and I do know what talent it, even though you may not think so. True, there are some people form the 50s who hated 80s music because they sound different with electronic sampled-based instruments and stuff (my favourite actually in those times) but the percentage of people not liking TODAY's music is a lot larger, and I can understand why because newer music is lacking the musicial quality of older music.

  • @judenihal Ahh no, i think you contradicted yourself, maybe you are stupid. You said that the percentage of people these days not liking todays music is a lot larger. Eh mate I think not. More people like 50 cent than people like Quincy Jones these days... oh so that makes 50 more talented? Oh good stuff on clearing that one man! :)

  • @Magnifikate You obviously misread what I said. I said that more people today that are 80s fans don't like the music of today, than 60s fans not liking the 80s. I don't see a reason why a 60s fan would not like the 80s music since they are both really good times for music even though the 80s sounds different. Really, most music of today is lacking the qualities earlier music has. I am surprised that you are defending such garbage.

  • @judenihal Man I'm not defending garbage. If it was garbage, who attacks it?

    Umad?

  • The music he makes is annoying, repetitive and cliche. He sucks in general. He is one of the reasons why music sucks today, the same goes for Katy Perry and all of these shitty pop artists.

  • that dont look like protools

  • 182 tracks, you goot love BLINK

  • That's not producing. Call Butch Vig and he'll tell you what producing is!

this is science and math, there's only TWO CHORDS in the whole song.

  • @rono8582 lol there is more chords you asshole

  • 182 tracks, still a shit song!

  • It sounds great but how do they transfer it to the live concert?

  • @talchapoton2411 they mix 'stems' which are tracks processed, and she pretends to sing over them.

  • @rono8582 hey thanks.Regardless of how songs are produced, people like what sounds good to them. The real statement is made at the register.

  • Max Martin is better producer

  • Comment removed

  • wow he changed his look! last time i saw him 2007 or 2008 he had no hairs and no beard :O

  • greatest producer DR LUKE !

  • Dr generic

  • @wow9490 dr prolefeed

  • @wow9490 actually its HIS style thats being copied...so he-in a sense- he set the standard

  • @wow9490 generic is what is in the charts... and is what sells and makes money for the labels, granted not much money to be made in the industry anymore, sad but true man

  • Hit Maker "Zephaniah- Save Me Now" Just got over 63,000 Views and growing!

  • GENIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dr. Generic.

  • Dr. Luke seems to be a nice guy. But because of people like him, pop music became stupid, monotone and fucking boring. And to prove my point, look at the way he produced the beat.

saidly his music sells more than any other. Which results in also other poeple produce the way he does.

  • @LBeatzTV

Its people like YOU who don't understand pop music! who simply should NOT listen to it and you would be a whole lot happier and so would we because we wouldn't have to hear you complaining about it.

  • To start with POP music is the farthest from Monotone. It's entire existence is founded on melody, melody, MELODY! and that is what makes it POP! as far as boring, well you can try to make these accusations towards any music genre however if it is the GENRE of POP music then you you are not understanding it.

  • It is not music designed for a musician to be able to perform their virtuoso wanking lead solos on their instrument of choice then to be applauded for their ability! No! It is music deigned for clever dynamics and space in the tracks and trying ever so hard to keep it simple, (can actually be far more challenging),

  • but most of all it is music that has been created for the vocal. and it is the vocal that most non musical listeners can still connect with because they may not be able to play an instrument but they have a voice so they can sing along to a genius hook and melody while tapping their hands on the steering wheel or whatever...

  • And finally another thing, If the music was stupid then I think the genre would not exist as possibly the highest selling music genre, in your own words, "his music sells more than any other." Thank God for Dr Luke! Fat beats great melodies amazing hooks, clever production and a solid understanding of what sounds great!

  • @fluidground Well okay everyone has his opinion. If you like it then you like. I don't like it so I can give my opinion or not? But to prove my point lets take Michael jackson or also known as KING OF POP!!! listen to his music and then listen to Dr.Luke.

  • @fluidground Pop music wasn't always like that. Pop music was once really good. Or maybe I should say now; I once liked pop music. To me todays pop music industry is too much focused on the profit. Of course it was always like that... but it's just much easier to sell the youth this kind of music.

Once again, I'm not a hater I just give my opinion...

  • @LBeatzTV it's so easy, yet you'll never have the slightest clue how to do it (don't bother commenting back, i won't read it or reply) have a nice day ;)

  • that awkward moment when making music is so easy o_O MJ I MISS U <333

  • goooo team Britney!! I love her so much.

  • Katy is the best!!!

  • @Anthagioo LMAO. You are so obsessed with her. LOL. From ATRL to Tumblr, and now youtube. :toofunny2: What a pressed piece of pathetic shit. Die please.

  • the sad thing is that Katy P's album with all those #1s has only sold 1.7 million copies(fact check that please but it ain't over 2 million). However, if she had that same album released back in 1999 it would have sold 20 million or more. Believe that! Ala carte track purchasing people. Jagged Little Pill sold 33 million copies! damn. But in 2011 that album wouldn't have sold 2 million. So it goes.

  • i thought that 40 tracks was a lot.....

  • Thumbs up if Ari brought you here, (=

  • What Console Does He Have???

  • I honestly thought computer made pop songs only took like 2 minutes to make, didn't think all that work went into it o.O

  • @MrMixer108 This doesn't even show the MULTIPLE people and weeks / writing sessions it took to write this song.

  • Man, it would be cool to hang out with Dr. Luke for an afternoon in that room and have him go through the individual parts of hit pop songs!

  • how the fuck do you mix 182 tracks

  • Here's the secret, you recycle the same fucking pop trash songs.

  • @ussrsalinas1 fuck oyu i have a phd and i like it so fuck you

  • I don't understand with all that talent and success he's got he fucked up on that Nelly song!

  • for some reason I always thought he was black...

  • @RealSkyDiver2 exactly my thought! don't know why but i honestly pictured him black.

  • Comment removed

  • @RealSkyDiver2 me tooooo

  • @RealSkyDiver2 LMFAO that's what I clicked on this video for, I was like "there's no way Dr luke is white!" LOL

  • haha xD polak nagrywał z Katy Perry? :D

  • this report didn't even graze the surface into what goes into making these songs. oh well at least it was something different.

  • Max Martin have also wrote this song together with Dr. Luke!

  • Dr. Luke is the master of music! Luke Tunewalker :D

  • makes tons of money but still has a wired mouse lol.

  • I wonder how much money does Dr.Luke have??? I'd guess he's made at least $15-20million

  • @themadpad last time i checked.. he bought a house worth about 5 million dollars around the hollywood area.. so that kind of explains. Also, he had A LOT of hits if you go on his wikipedia. Especially when the song Right Round was even used in the movie Hang Over, you can imagine how much money he has from all these royalties and coprights. He's truly a great man.

  • dr luke is a pop genuis

  • TEENAGE DRAM IS A GREAT SONG AND DR. LUKE IS A GENIOUS!

  • @VTVMEXICO - And you have very low standards.

  • @stellagranos72 you don't know anything about me my friend u have no idea what i like, this coment was about comparing katy perry with jonas brother or justin bieber for example, katy has more production than the other two, just for ur information, my favorite singers are the beattles, michael jackson, madonna, nirvanna, queen, michael bublé, elvis, metallica, guns and roses, i said the guy is a genious becouse he's making a lot of money with that songs, not becouse he is the biggest songwriter

  • Look people, his Pro Tools is not 9, not even 8, it's 7. But he absolutely does work wonders for singers. Doesn't matter what your gears are, but it does matter what your talents and potentialities are. Think what you can do folks. I do think about that.

  • @Jesteminny1726 theres not much different between 7 and 9 .

  • 182 Tracks!!!!! Fuck!!!!!!

  • @BeatPerfection Hahaha I think he uses a supercomputer to produce his music cause 182 tracks with full effects on them would so crash my computer

  • @ASHTONZANECKI Pro Tools HD systems use external processors and sound cards, so It's really all about the Pro Tools system he has, not his computer. He has a regular Mac pro I believe

  • @BeatPerfection perfection

  • 'She does all her own backgrounds'.... what does he mean by that? Does he mean that she played that guitar line?

  • @themadpad she did all of her own vocal haromines & ad libs

  • @themadpad - It means that he forgot to mention how all of her vocals are auto-tuned because she can't sing.

  • @themadpad Not the guitars, he's talking about the vocal backgrounds/harmonies. Looks like all the vocals you hear on the song are Katy Perry 100% (minus those group shouts that Dr. Luke pointed out on the chorus).

  • @themadpad haha means that she sings the double parts as well and all harmonies, though there are not many harmonies, i think most of the time they just dubbing vocals. and then panning left and right.. as far as I can hear.

she plays guitar though, i remember her playing at warped tour like 6 years ago.. believe it or not

  • 182 thats bullshit !!! not even pro tools has that many tracks it can hold

    dr. luke ur my competition

  • @empire562 it is pretty insane, but with pro tools HD3 you can go up to 192 audio tracks. he uses no midi.

  • @empire562 Well, not if you're on the old LE stuff. There I believe you're limited to, what, 32 tracks? I dunno...I'm a TDM user. The new PT9 native under Avid and (always) PT HD3 and up allows that many.

Point is this - when the pros talk track count, don't be fooled into thinking they're all totally different parts. The pros (and I mix for these guys, so I get their sessions *raw*) don't comp tracks. They just record every new dub or b/g as a new track for simplicity (sometimes laziness!)lol

  • Dr.Luke I Wish U Were My Cool Uncle - It Would Make My Life Easier

  • Awesome!! ... But 182 tracks though? That's an outrageous amount!

  • very very cool to see how it's done

  • THats soooo cool more ppl need to see this!!!! and 1st comment HAHA!!!!
