I got to see Hilary play Tchaikovsky in Portland, it was definitely in the top two concerts I've been to. I even got to meet her afterward, which was amazing. Her recordings really motivate me as a violin student.
If only I were not familiar with what people in the DG control room can do and are willing to do, I could buy your interpretation a little more. Your playing seemingly impressive, so this fact is more than regrettable.

They also did clean up every (full of) wrong notes in Abbado/Grimaud Rach 2 in 2008 Lucerne Festival. What a shame!
I regret that I've posted the previous comment, but you cannot change the past so I don't delete that (actually deleted 3 times.)
After listening to whole sample of Tchaikovsky : What a gear changes in in tempi and exquisite rubato and dynamics balances! 1st movement "Piu Lento" was so impressive. I don't know anyone else has ever performed it in that way.
Even though this recording were a product of remixing technology from separately taken sessions at distant places, I don't care.
If only I were not very familiar with what control room people like to do and are willing to do to "transfigure" the masters, I could take this as very important and positive steps in the classical music industry.
Your playing seems very impressive. So, this is something very regrettable. I was aware of what they did to the Grimaud / Abbado master at Lucerne Festival last year.

she always says the same thing about how different pieces complement eachother.
no disrespect to hilary as a musician, but anyone could say that about any 2 pieces considering how random so of her cd programs are. i think management just wants to promote these lesser works so they put them with a big piece like tchaik
@hodgrix I don't think so. the pairing isn't entirely random. if, for example, the tchaik were paired up with the schoenberg concerto it wouldn't work as well. the two pieces do complement eachother in a unique way, but also it does make sense commercially in the way you say. her programs were not random at all. often she chooses a new work, and and older one that shares some common ground or significant sensibilities but still offers contrast.
Hilary Hahn, unglaublich......

reminds me of the korngold concerto. There is nothing at all that hahn can't do on the violin. this does not sound like an easy concerto to learn.

I'm terribly sorry for having posted and deleted comments repeatedly onto your video on that. (Some of those happened for technical bugs of youtube.)
Anyway, we cannot change our past, so I decided to keep it remaining.
All the best wishes for your future and best regards,

I never deleted my previous comment although I decline that content to some degree. So I was forced to write it again.

ditto
when she talks about it past 8:40, it sounds like waffle to sidestep the point about doing a favour to her composer friend to include it.
It'd be more productive if she used the time to talk more about the concertos instead or her perception of them
I liked what she did with Mendelssohn/Bach/Beethoven's concertos, so I might as well buy it. Only $12. (on sale on arkivmusic this weekend)
