I really think it was about the same back then...in terms of "bad things happenning" In fact I dont think it has ever changed..I think now we have some extra technology to help us cope and distract us,,and it helps a little..but I think all of human existance including now there has been murer,rape,inequality,violence,natural disasters,crime,drugs,corruption,disease...this is nostalgiic though we remeber the good things about past times and compare them to how they are different now

Yes I agree with Catgurmart. I mean families still do take vacations, This footage reminds one of our own childhood innocence and care-free attitude.

One of the last scenes was of me sitting at a gutter on Catalina Island. I got a bad case of sea sickness and spent most of the
day at that red gutter with an upset tummy. I kept telling my kids that story and it was a blast to discover that my parents filmed it!

Well, I think the world has become a much more immoral place especially for children. The Sex, the violence, the divorces, the pornography, etc.
I feel sorry for children today. When I was growing up, the raciest thing on TV was Love American Style.
