"Inspectors" or "Detectives" are people who have a few years of police experience and who can take that and do investigative work in certain areas of crimes for example...sex crimes, burglary, larceny and so on...In my department, Detectives dont get paid more money and no matter what department in the USA you work in, detectives have no real authority over Patrol officer AT ALL, (i know its hard to believe because hollywood wants you to hink that)...Most officers rotate from detective to patrol
I'm actually not a fan of the chargers. The department that I do ride alongs at are going to Chargers. So every now and then they're retiring crown vics and buying chargers because the charger gets 1 mile to the gallon better. The charger is lower to the ground in the middle. The only way the charger beats the crown vic is the front and back bumper clearance.
Its crazy, my town of 40,000 people has 9 White chargers, 1 black unmarked, 1 grey unmarked, and one white unmarked. Also 1 white Tahoe supervisor, 2 white tahoe unmarked, 4 white crown vics, with a maroon unmarked crown vic, 3 white unmarked crown vics, and a dodge caravan unmarked. Thats just the local police. Now when you include RCMP add another 20 cop cars/trucks + 5 unmarked.. its ridculous.. Its not a big city by any means, and yet we have atleast 4-10 cop cars just on patrol!

Nothing completely unmarked. There are always tell tale sighns for a cop car. Tints, antena, even the wheels the completely black ones or just hub caps, never chrome, sometimes the plate.

Yes being a cop in some states pays over $40,000 a yr and more if your in the military. I know because I have a brother that's a cop. Oh, and you really want some proof look up the california highway patrol and request a job info and the packet will show you the pay rates.

40K ??? thats actually kind of low.....I've been a cop for 3 years and I make 76K a year wiht a BA degree and several other training classes offered by the department....being a cop these days pays pretty well, 40 K is on the lower side of things...

yes it is pretty fair I must add....still, 40 hours a week is all that they will ever get from me, after my shift is over, I am just a regular joe shmoe, lol, its been months since i even packed "heat" off duty...You learn to take your identity back after a few years doing this....some of my neighbors dont even know what i do because i dont have a take home car and usually put a light sports jaket over my uniform before driving :)

Negative, and for that we have Hollywood to blame....There is no school in the world that can teach you to become a good investigator, for that you need experience...experience is everything in this job, that is the true reason that police departments dont require a degree (if you can get hired on wiht the fierce competition out there wihtout one)..no degree can make you become a cop, its very different from everything else out there, Airline Pilots are similar, Most don't require a degree...

yes you are right any cop will tell you that you need to be smart and in shap for certant tasks you do have to pass an acedemy test but no school will make you be a good cop its there for you to take in and take out are you a dectective or field cop i want to be a cop i apreciate the work in volved in lawenforcement its a very hard job though every thing is different in that possion to a certent extent

"Inspectors" or "Detectives" are people who have a few years of police experience and who can take that and do investigative work in certain areas of crimes for example...sex crimes, burglary, larceny and so on...In my department, Detectives dont get paid more money and no matter what department in the USA you work in, detectives have no real authority over Patrol officer AT ALL, (i know its hard to believe because hollywood wants you to hink that)...Most officers rotate from detective to patrol

I'm actually not a fan of the chargers. The department that I do ride alongs at are going to Chargers. So every now and then they're retiring crown vics and buying chargers because the charger gets 1 mile to the gallon better. The charger is lower to the ground in the middle. The only way the charger beats the crown vic is the front and back bumper clearance.

Its crazy, my town of 40,000 people has 9 White chargers, 1 black unmarked, 1 grey unmarked, and one white unmarked. Also 1 white Tahoe supervisor, 2 white tahoe unmarked, 4 white crown vics, with a maroon unmarked crown vic, 3 white unmarked crown vics, and a dodge caravan unmarked. Thats just the local police. Now when you include RCMP add another 20 cop cars/trucks + 5 unmarked.. its ridculous.. Its not a big city by any means, and yet we have atleast 4-10 cop cars just on patrol!

Hahaha, I would say the latter of the two is more true. Our town has a really bad crime problem (Not to be racist, but we got alot of reserves and poverty coming from the natives) and that makes it for some crazy amounts of cops! Oh well haha

This makes me wish I was a policeman. Then I could drive my 08 Bee the way it is meant to be driven. We just got Charger cop cars in SE Tx . Black with white. I like this color better, but I still think unmarked cars are terrible. Show me the lights so I can at least have a chance to outrun you. Take care and may God bless our police and firemen.

Called my friend to tell him. He said 'Is it blue?' Yeahhh, why? 'A girl down the road has one." So within 20 miles are 2 of 1000. At first I was upset, then I thought o well, if I get into a compromising position, I can blame it on her. Also, there is a yellow one in the next neighborhood. Funny how you never notice how many there are until you buy one. I hear chargers are the most ticketed car in America. Take it easy on us, guys.

Dodge introduced the new Chargers in 2006. This one was one of the VERY first police packages on the road.... While MSP lead, everyone else followed. Yes, most P.D. have caught up now.

Police in New Britain, Connecticut also has a Dodge Charger. I'm not sure of its specs, though. I'm also sure there must be some other places in the US where they are used.

I-91 South between Forest Park and Enfield is a tough place to speed! They even use completely unmarked black Ford Expeditions! Talk about stealth!! NJ Staties don't have Chargers! Our state is too broke to afford them! lol

Nothing completely unmarked. There are always tell tale sighns for a cop car. Tints, antena, even the wheels the completely black ones or just hub caps, never chrome, sometimes the plate.

bullshit charger, Not even SRT/8 ...I'd blow the doors off with my old Hwy Crown Vic 5.0 chipped. Ive got a SRT/8 police package waiting for me at the PD garage everyday, problem is once they put perp-cage in theres NO legroom and Im 6'3...Miss my Vic sumthin awful.
