The comics were different. I forget how, but Bumblebee was damaged beyond repair, so Ratchet completely rebuilt his body and made him Goldbug, his more mature form. Later on, Goldbug is off-lined (I believe) and Ratchet resurrects him as Bumblebee out of personal preference. I'm going to have to agree with Ratchet on that one, good call. Bee's just awesome, Goldbug...I was/am not ready for that transition.

you forget, in the end scene of the very last episode, when the autobots are celebrating the new golden age of cybertron, it shows bumblebee changed back to his first form. so he did survive to the end of the series.

Wow! i forget how small they were in the 80's i actually prefer the modern versions, they were alot tougher back then though. The more complex transformations of modern versions are a nice trade off though.

Bumblebee was damaged fighting Superion (who was infected by the hate plague.) When Optimus asks if any Autobots were uninfected, Sky Lynx mentions a list of casulaties who needed to be repaired. The Quintesson who revived Optimus rebuilt Bumblebee as Godlbug. (In G1 cartoon, anyways)

There were only three more USA episodes after this. The 3-part Headmaster/Targetmaster series.

I got this for Christmas when I was a kid. Was the first Transformer I had as a kid. Was simple and kinda lame...but I loved it at the time.

I just wish I still had this one....and the Fortress Maximus. I begged and begged for that one....it was one of 2 presents I got that year. The other was Metroplex. 2 city Transformers was all I got...but I was certainly a happy kid!

I don't think that is the Bumblebee that was first released in 1984. If I recall correctly they didn't use rubsigns until the 85 release. In fact, the Bumblebee I remember owning had a regular Autobot symbol. I forgot how much Goldbug sucked, though. Yeesh. Makes ROTF Soundwave look useful.

I got the keychain version from a few years ago.

It looks like G1 bumblebee. but he doesnt have that rubsign and "dunlop" brand tires. but his tires are rubber.

You may have to retake this vid when the next bumblebee comes out for Animated. Though pretty much just Classics bumblebee but a little bigger and skinnier. he also has "daggers?"

Thanks, it does. I did some research and it seems it was just Takara shipping out their stock to Hasbro, and there were red Bumblebee's and Yellow Cliffjumpers in the mix. Kind of reminds me of why there are red and yellow Cybertron Scrapmetals.
