  • The problem with viruses is that they mutate. Otherwise, they could be turned into miracle cures for all diseases.

  • mb this is nonsense put out to establish a base for them putting out cancer vaccines or something. but vaccines usually have viruses in them... but I didn't think cancer is a virus, so what virus would be in there? I think I'll stick with DCA

  • @DarlingGreen Cancer is not a virus . Cancer is human cell gone wrong . Or a group of human cells that share a grandparent with an error in its DNA code. A colony of cells , if they all shared a common ancestor , ccould be a tumor , because all the cells have error in DNA they carry out a erroneous function. Human cells gone worng

A virus is a micro organism, ( a very simple one, a collection of organic molecules) a bacteria is much more complex

Virus = ideal platform against cance

  • @eastcoaster54 I know cancer isn't a virus, it has to do with the mitochondria malfunctioning. Google: Canadian doctors find cure for cancer & there's a nice little info graphic....

A cure I'd stand by is dichloroacetate (DCA)

  • Proof Marijuana CURES Cancer and Marijuana A Chronic History ..please watch this here in youtube..

  • omfg

  • This is silly. Mega-doses of vitamin C has shown to destroy cancer. Hemp oil has shown to destroy cancer....

  • im not tryin' to piss of drug companies but did you know a cure for cancer is hemp oil?

  • Sodium Dichloroacetate (DCA) thats the real cure for cancer pharmacy doesnt want you to know about this cheap cancer treatment.Do yourself and loved ones a favor and google Sodium Dichloroacetate (DCA) again that is Sodium Dichloroacetate (DCA)

  • Wouldn't the human immune system kill the virus too? It's a foreign substance.

  • lol cancer

  • I hope humanity will get chance to cure this family taking disease

  • First cancer fighting virus? Yes.

    First cure for cancer? No.

  • It is now possible to edit a mature organisms DNA by 'infecting' it with genetically altered virus structures. DNA is the paint, our bodies the canvas, and the end of cancer is just the begining.

  • I wish Cancer got Cancer and died!

  • I Am Legend... Oh shitttt

  • We developed insulin and now we're curing cancer? CANADAAAA! FUCK YEAH!

  • @DJdude250

    Not really!

Before those 2 canadians that received the Nobel prize in 1923 for the discovery of insulin, a big contribution was made by Nicolae Paulescu that did not receive any merit because of his antisemitic political orientation.

However in 1969 the Nobel comitee admits the merits and the priority of Paulescu in the discovery of the antidiabetic treatment.

  • i wonder if this can be effective for renal transplangt patients or AIDS/HIV people (who can get cancer more readily) whose immune system has been compromised...

and would the virus itself be dangerous in the people.

  • @TheMuziekmann

I don't understand why it wouldn't work for renal transplants patients? Care to explain the rational?

As for AIDS/HIV patients, it makes no difference. It'll work on them. They're not injecting a naked virus (A viron, which in essence would be useless), they're injecting one in a capsid. I'm sure the mitotic mutation telling the cells to keep dividing and avoid apoptosis altered the glycocalyx of of the cancer cells, so I'm sure that's what facilitates the virus' transfection.

  • @LuckyDukeSeven renal transplant patients are on immunosuppressive meds to prevent rejection (of the donated kidney by the host).

The premise is that the virus-cancer complex gets attacked by the host immune system which in turn kills it off. Wether the virus is naked or has a capsid is not the point. Also they didn't specify the type of mutation or pathway involved, all they mentioned was colon cancer. But the point being the hosts immune system response.

  • @TheMuziekmann

I thought the virus retro-synthetically manufactured its DNA and incorporated it into the mutated cell batch's (all cells that have divided from the original) DNA with the use of some splicosomal action or artificial restriction enzymes within the capsid (triggering apoptosis, which then triggers phagocytes). So immunosuppression shouldn't matter.

I think I read something preliminary on PubMed about this. It wasn't peer reviewed- it was some time ago.

  • SCIENCE!!!!

  • this is how all the zombie movies start once that virus mutates we will all be dead

  • I doubt there will ever be a "cure" to cancer. Cancer is when a cell has a malfunction are multiplies out of control. I don't see a way to cure that.

  • @lovetohate028

True, but we'll probably eventually get to the point where cancer is just a minor inconvenience.

  • Well, at least now Canada can claim something major for once :)

  • @LTLECLAIR

The hell are you taking about, Canada has made huge contributions in the past... like the snowmobile, hydrofoil and wonderbra.

  • Great news

  • Why do people worry about what a movie has said regarding cancer technology, curing cancer doesn't spell the end of the world, no more than promoting healthy diet and exercise to prevent heart disease and diabetes.

  • I would love to see this work, we target specific cancer cells already, but to have the body fight the cancer itself would be amazing, imagine the people we could save, so many cancers currently are a case of how much time we can give someone, but to have the body stop a cancer from metastasising would be amazing.

  • Finally an excellent new!

  • Canada FTW!!!!!

  • thats good news....

  • whoa.. I do have a feeling viruses could bite us back BADLY. who knows maybe the virus in decades proves as bad as cancer, and we'll have to fight it then.. makes me a little worried from a gut feeling (I'm not a doctor of course)

  • SEPTEMBER IS CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH! SPREAD IT!

  • Here comes the zombie apocalypse

  • Canadians brought us Insulin, next the cure for cancer?

  • Who knows what to believe anymore...

  • Well this one got here a day late and a dollar short for my dad, all my aunts on my dads side of the family and all his brothers that died from cancer. And I bet you a million dollars this virus if proven successful won't make it's way to the US. There's no money to be made in a cure and that's all pharmaceutical companies here are worried about is money. Pathetic really.

  • @exacerbatedtaboo how much, like seriously, you betting on that claim of yours? ' And I bet you a million dollars this virus if proven successful won't make it's way to the US.'

  • what if I eat that virus?

  • BUT when the virus mutates into something uncontrollable, then what?!?

  • @marcomariaz26 Then OJ Simpson makes a movie about it: Andromedia Strain. No wait, that's already been done... lol...

  • fucking vampires will begin to come out...... these clinical trials better not start in NYC

  • See Rick Simpson's story on you tube "Run from the cure."

  • Good news, but everyone still ignoring pot, the cure. Ask Rick Simpson.

  • Great ! how long will that clinical trial take?

  • @thenumber13dotnet probably will be 20 years or so before anything like this is allowed to actually treat patients here in the USA. IF a USA company did it, it would be prime time in about 1/2 that, but the USA is better than Canada, so we don't trust them... lqtm...

  • that means that Steve Jobs will be back in a few years, right?

  • @strangeriam What do you suggest al Jazeera recommend? Nobody knows how to prevent cancer. If someone figures it out, I imagine it will get much press. Till then, I see no reason not to report actual news about treatment discoveries (not a cure).

  • ya, they thought that the Atomic bomb would bring peace.

  • @amyntazoe In a way it did buddy, the threat of that weapon enough kept Russia and the US from starting WWIII. Minor wars like what we are seeing now, are hardly signs of bad peace, considering the history of the planet, it's a sign of pretty stable peace.

  • ZOMBIES!

  • how about we engineer cancer so that humans never age?

  • to be honest... what if that virus mutates?

  • @Hellhound30x virus mutates? conspiracy theory!

  • Sponsored by Umbrella Corp.

  • Wut a load of BS...tired of hearing about finding the 'cure' for Cancer.

Big money is generated no questions asked.

Lets talk preventative measures on Cancer and other illnesses shall we ..Al Jazeera

  • @stangeriam You can't prevent cancers that are hereditary in nature, unless the genes mutate, which is also known as cancer.

  • @Blackops981 That is what were taught....isn't it : )

After all, how do we think certain illnesses have become

hereditary? Is it impossible to reverse the mutation?

  • @stangeriam Cancer can either be induced by carcinogen or inherited. This is why you see breast cancer runs in a family. Could that be the doing of an omnipotent supernatural being, or could it be the genetics of an individual?

  • @Blackops981 Actually, what is not being admitted in the "health care" industry ...lol...

is that cancer CANNOT live in a alkaline body. When our bodies are in proper PH the oxygen content

goes up and cancer will not flourish.

Do not believe, each to their own...refer to a Dr. Morse who heals on a regular basis.

Ask yourself one thing...when a plant is living in too acidic of state, what happens to it... : )

    BALANCE IS KEY

  • @stangeriam Exactly how alkaline does it have to be to stop cancer from growing? If it's alkaline enough to kill you, that isn't a solution is it?

  • @Miranox2 Don't quote me on this but from what I recall its slightly alkaline..about 7.2

And yes, too much alkaline (alkalosis) is not healthy either. Balanced

  • @stangeriam I don't see how pH in the body can affect the spread of cancerous cells in an individual who lacks tumor suppressor genes. Crops like maize and potatoes do need acidic soil for proper growth. Get yourself a book.

  • @Blackops981 : / That is soil, not a human body...Refer to Dr. Morse...He

has treated 100,000 plus. I think I'll listen to the expert tnx

  • Not buying it. They've had the cure for years, but have been hiding it. Don't trust this, it's likely some kind of ploy.

  • We might be witnessing medical history in the making here. WOW.

  • OMG Canada is in the news!!!!!!! ;)

  • if i was that doctor, i'd be shitting myself right now

  • @PkSage89 at least it isnt N.korea :D

  • leave it to the Canadians to discover.
