Not a huge glitch fan, but GODDAMN nice ENS there bro. I've tried to dive deeper into Reaktor, but the most I ever did was a simple pulsewave synth with a lot of expression.
So, what are we listening to here? That is, is it a sample or a plain, standard square/etc. wave?
Pretty cool patch, though I think I'd only use it as a source of creating drums--that is, sampling the lows and highs as kicks/snares/etc, I doubt it's really suitable for recording tracks as-is unless you're working on a purely experimental scale (I.E. Merzbow, etc)
i can manage to make like normal synth sounds but i just cant figure out how to make those glitchy sound!! your help would be GREATLY apreciated! thanks!
Really? I've never messed with Max. But, I'm afraid that if I got a copy, I'd end up never leaving the house again. It's bad enough with just Reaktor :-)
well, it's more difficult to learn, but it's more flexible, and, yes, you'd never leave the house. It feels like making your own software, with no strings attached. Albeit it's not as slick looking as Reaktor
I guess the "no strings attached" is the fact that the Max/MSP creations can run on any machine with the free "Run" software? Where you have to have Reaktor to run a Reaktor instrument. That's my only complaint w/Reaktor.
Dude, I accidently removed your message, when I meant to reply. Sorry
RE: zlapidus
Wow. Very expressive instrument! At the moment I'm trying to make an instrument similar to this in SuperCollider and would love to hear about some of the techniques you are using to generate some of these sounds!
OK, I haven't messed with SuperCollider so I can't do a direct comparison. But, I did use a shitload of LFO's to modulate just about every parameter of everything. And I used multiple LFOs on the same parameter so that there would be less repetition.
ive been using reaktor since version 3 and I still dont know as much as i know it can do. to learn everything u have to have no job and no life. just reaktor.
C3PO would approve!

Yes, and I've made some further mods to this ensemble so that I'm getting a better variety of sounds now.

thats not really true... max/msp has a great operation manual inc. good (!) tutorials.
mantacoup 3 years ago
agreed. i didn't have much time to learn a lot with max/msp before my demo expired, but the tutorials and manual were amazingly helpful.

you could probably learn an instrument in the time it took you to become this big of a noise nerd
UrsaMusic 3 years ago
Probably right. But I started playing guitar in 1983. I still play that instrument. I just look at noise as being another expression of music.
But, I think "noise nerd" is a compliment so, Thank you!
