@Davefromqueens Its the pilots choice whether to retract the available gear or not. belly is not procedure i think for most airlines though because they see it better for whatever landing gear is available to be used to take the hard force of the initial touchdown, and to give the pilot as much control as possible. I thought the same thing as you at first, but my flight instructor explained it. But According to the faa, its the pilots choice.
Wow amazing landing, the pilot seemed to really manage to balance and slow the plane down enough before the wing hit the ground to prevent fatalities.
