I used to get up at 05:35 every morning in the early 90's to watch this on Channel 4. Great memories! Now the only time I see 05:35 in the morning is getting in from a night out ;)
Did you'll know that this is a Dutch cartoon? I am Dutch and I used to watch it. It got created in 1986 and broadcasted around 1989. It's very different and special to hear my beloved cartoon in English now. I didn't even know that this cartoon also got abroad. I love it! Now everyone can enjoy this fantastic cartoon!
this cartoon was last made in 1991 but it still does look good by today's standard. wow! the last time i've watched this cartoon was way, wayyy back in 1994. i always love to hear the theme of this cartoon during its heydays... its that good...
the song makes no sense! why did the people in england give alfred the middle-name 'jonathan', although his originally middle-name is 'jodocus' (in dutch and in german)...and the title songs in netherlands and in germany are quite different than the english one
The english release is nowhere to be found and there are no torrents either.
I did see a few VHS's on amazon and i managed to find 4 episodes in English online. I uploaded 3 to my account today. Ill upload the other one tomorrow. Too bad i wasnt able to find the first episode
yes, this was the episode of the Dodo. Not sure which number the episode has. You can download the episodes in Dutch and German though. Search via Google.
Once had a very strange dream when i was little that has stuck with me to this day. was about the turtle island in episode 30 where i was in the submarine with alfred and dogtanion... strange eh. thanks so much for putting this masterpiece on youtube. IT HAS TO COME OUT ON DVD just like so many other greats that already have.
Ah man, this brings back memories! This is the first cartoon I watched when I was young, and it's more meaningful than ever now that I get the meanings behind the characters (and I'm 17!). Anyone remember Dolf, the crow who (now at least) so clearly represents Hitler? I'm digging my videos out!
damn i loved this show when i was a little kid. and i still good and exciting. i wish they still made shows like this today. now a days its mostly crap they show on tv and half censured casuse apperiently every little cartoon have bad influence on you.
Even I am from Finland, i can honestly say that I love the Dutch opening the best. I just dislike the opening of this, but i guess Alfreds voice is... cute ^_^
Fantastic TV serie! Very profound, with all the references to social and political themes. The intro song is nice, but the original voices of the Dutch version are much better..
Omg, what a voice Alfred have! But song is ok. I think that Alfreds Finnish and Dutch voices are good. Of course I like finnish voices, cause I'm came from Finland. I believe that every country who has had watched this tv-programme, likes voices in their own language, cause they are used to listen them for a long time. Sorry my bad english
Love the series but I prefer the Dutch version but the German is ok too. (Both sung by Herman van Veen) And he's the one that made the storie and it was drawn in Japan. What more can you want?
I'm from the United States. I would love to see it released here. I know my young nephews would love it! A friend of mine from the Netherlands introduced me to this program through Youtube. I am seeking full episodes now :-)
Much indeed this should be on DVD over here. I could have sworn that years ago though I saw a few VHS's of this while looking in QD stores or something... O:
I used to think alfred was only popular in Holland. Very nice to see all the love for this great show. Hopefully a younger generation will be introduced with the DVD release next month.
No, I am from Germany and it was very popular here too, it is still aired every now and then. It has even been on several tv stations. The guy who invented Alfred even sang the German theme song - with a funny accent of course, but that kind of fitted the charme of the show. I loved that series as well, it is much more sophisticated from the storytelling point of view than much of the superficial crap that is normally fed to children on tv these days. Go AJK!
