I seen these before, just never ate any because I didn't know what it was. If I didn't know what something was in the wild, I usually considered it poisonous just to be safe.
Lots of info on growing and why the pawpaw hasn't been commercially viable at the University of KY PawPaw website. The pawpaw is a very fast growing tree, able to bear fruit in just 18 months. It is also the largest indigenous fruit in North America.
So from this video I could get was that the pawpaw tastes like 5 different things: a peach, pudding, bannana, creamy mange, straberry. I'm just waiting until someone says it tastes like a cheeseburger then I'm sold.
Awesome! Thanks for highlighting the pawpaw. My husband and I have an annual tradition of going out looking for pawpaws. This year we were able to take our 11 week old son with us! : )
I love how your harvesting technique (aka shaking the tree) is identical to ours! :)

Perhaps Juan Williams was fired because he refused to hike out into the forest and pick pawpaws for all the lily white NPR execs???
