Thank you so much for posting this video! It is so inspiring to me! I am a first year nursing student and so far, youtube nursing videos like this one have kept me going. Keep 'em coming! :)
@ptyrochromis - Thank you for liking this video and GOOD LUCK through your first semester! I remember getting upset my first semester because I didn't understand everything. Don't worry. It will all come to you one day! Keep up the fight! Never give up!
O great Wizard of Nursing, I come seeking advice. I just got certified as a Nursing Assistant. I will soon be looking for work in a Nursing Home. Please tell me a few of the things I have to keep in mind in being successful. My superiors will be RN's & LPN's, what are a few of the things they look for in a successful and valuable CNA?
@elpaso5893 - CONGRATULATIONS on getting your CNA certification. With the patient loads of nursing homes, RNs and LPNs may get a little short with you. In return, you will get short with them. Remember, if you have a problem with a nurse, just calmly talk to them and try to see their side of the situation. I have seen a lot of hurt feelings on both sides when this happens.
Successful and Valuable skills - Always take the initiative. Stick to the nurse's side and ask their advice! :D
@NurseStephen I worked at factory for many years before I got my CNA. The same could be said about being in that line of work (Peavey Electronics). Great company, The crew I was on was the best. After that experience I think I should be prepared for almost anything. It was a very tough job and I did just fine with the rules you have stated. - Have a great week
@lovebug2ification - Hey! Tyler Ward sings all of these songs. I have posted all the information about the songs and where to find them on iTunes in the video description below! :D I really like the songs too!
This is a great video Stephen! I love how you shake/ your head for emphasis, so cute! I hadn't even realized that I was smiling through the whole video! You make some really great points with a nice touch of humor. You're so right about the discrediting that happens. LPNs get no love!! Especially no respect from the RNs. But at the end of the day, most of us want to help you save the world :-)
@TheBeautyonDuty - I TOTALLY agree with you. LPNs don't get enough respect. When I use to work with LPNs, we would be an equal team. My philosophy...LPNs have stronger technical clinical skills than I do. As an RN, I have more paperwork skills. We always treated the patient as a duo. When we didn't know an answer, we would ask each other. I loved doing nursing this way. Thanks for helping me save the world! :D
Stevie my pal! I seriously need a GOOD vid on the Math Validatoin Exam for First Semester, you know that dreadful one you have to make a 90 on or you fail the whole class. We get two shots at it but what is on it? What kinds of stuff do they test you on" Oh and my "friend" that has been going thru this WITH me the whole time, said today "I don't think Nursing is for me, I'm gonna try to drop it tomorrow" She is ALOT of my motivation to go some days! :'( BAD couple of weeks stevie :( Help!
@32nikkimac - When I was in school, they taught the dimensional analysis and the so called "dot-dot" calculation methods. I never got it and had to use my own method of doing it. I would hate to post a video and screw you up even further.
I remember the med tests we had to take each semester. I was scared half to death each time I had to take it. However, I had to learn not to over think the questions and not to second guess myself. When I followed this advice...I did fine.
dude, that's messed up, you are not supposed to make other nurse dudes sentimental. i had iv infiltrate today, i thought i was the iv king. the patient was really nice and said we all have to learn. i forgot that i was still learning everyday. someone said that some nurses are fighters and some are caregivers, i think you may not know until you lose your first patient how hard you will fight or how much you really care
@zinalar59 - Dude...I TOTALLY understand. Because I started a lot of IVs when I worked on a med/surg floor...I was the IV go-to guy in ICU. I have either good days or bad days sticking and I feel HORRIBLE when I don't get it. Dude...keep on fighting!
Love this! Very needed this first week of nursing school. I think this should be mandatory viewing for my class mates!

@Renee4Christ - I can't stand it when everybody battles over beef tips and rice. It is like a delicacy but looks like Alpo.
