Does anyone notice when he flips the front seat up to get in, the front seat also slides forward so he now has more leg room in the back then he would have had if someone actually stayed in the front seat
@PilgrimLad Amen! And I tire of European and british car reviewers citing this nonsense statistic like it has some sort of meaning to the average car buyer.
@order9066 It does have a meaning to us. The more CO2 the car produces the more we have to pay to tax it. This car produces so little its free to tax.
i currently have the original smart fortwo which i love dearly, apart from the bumpy as hell ride, but i really do like this little car over the new fortwo which was going to be my upgrade in June, but this just ticks every box! brilliant
I've driven a Smart and I don't like the way it changes gear. Far too slow. I test drove the IQ3 (1.3litre) yesterday and was blown away by the way it drives. I am 6 foot and could easily sit behind the front passenger. We have 3 in our family, so the car would suite us perfectly. Not so with the Smart as it's only for 2. So it's up for me.
IQ devours the Smart. better shifting gears, more fun to drive, more passenger capacity (3 is still better than 2), smoother drive. and its hell lot nicer looking too.
@TheDudleyheathens its called 3+1 seating. 3 adults and 1 small child and this car is a whole fucking foot longer than the smart and 5 inches wider.....
It looks good, is anybody know when will be sell at hong kong and how much is it? Cause I love the tester said it is great for a family like me which is a couple plus one child.
This car is fantastic! I drove one last week and absolutely loved it! It looks gorgeous, rides so well and is so nippy for a 1.0-litre you don't need anything else! Go for the 1.0-litre manual and you won't even have to pay road tax! Brilliant!
Saw one at a car show today... A marvelous little thing, I tell you. My buddy who's 2m tall (6'8") took a seat in the front and he said it's wonderfully comfortable. Definitely a good investment.
wot a fab wee car i would love one of these, they look great, dont give a shit how environmentaly friendly they are. Cant stand the fat arsed presenter though, he's a rite fanny, i would'nt trust him with anything bigger than an IQ.
i said to the wife,"come on!don't be daft!i am not going spend my money on a little thingy like this"...15 mins later..after the test drive.instantly,i ordered one for myself.just imagine how much u can save on the petrol...comparing with my old HRV that drinks more than i do.goodbye my luv.
and if it drives anything like a peugeot 107 then it is FUN! way more fun than my current mk4 2.0 astra and even if its not as fast it really impressed me how fun it was :D
Yes, it would be the toyota's ipod. It car reminds me the twingo but, the twingo was so french, so mmhh, delicate. The iq keeps all the yaris' good stuff and added that futuristic flavor, it would be a real succsses
Nifty. I wonder how soon before people start tweaking them for better performance. Should be interesting if it happens. Too bad we're not likely to see that car in the States.
I stand corrected. I did a bit of research and it seems like the IQ may be sold in the US as a Scion model with the same 1.5 liter from the Yaris. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
I'v ordered one and in 2 days, it's in my underground parking, First thing i'll be doing to give it a bit more kick is changing the tires from 175/65/15 into 175/50/15. It pulls a bit too long on gears giving poor acceleration, but with smaller wheel diameter, will be a bit more nippier. Especially with a K&N air filter and exhaust pipe, just for the sound !
Highering gear pitch will improve acceleration but may hinder speed accuracy.
The iQ for town running, and the Honda CIVIC latest generation 2,2 turbo for high ways .... and also goes high speed ;-)
The iQ is real fun to have, been a month i have been riding that car but honestly, 55km/h on 1st gear, 105 km/h on 2nd and 140 km/h on 3rd gear is some what really too long ratio.
I guaranty this car to be much more fun to ride if lower tyres equipped !!! Much more nippier on green light start ! ZIPTUNING makes 85 hp with Remap only ;-0
The car is built and designed for a low user cost, and in the UK the road tax costs nothing. I've just ordered one of these cars, and is surprisingly comfortable and actually quite nippy.
To think of modifying it is an irrelivent thought IMO. Its a car that is cheap to run, and thats what the average user will buy it for... NOT to mod it.
You stated your opinion intelligently, but then you had to follow it up with a (grammatically incorrect) rude comment. Great way to make friends and impress others.
You make your derogatory comment about stupid Americans tweaking cars, when some of the worlds best modding petrol heads are in the UK. Is this irony or idiocy?
You may want to take a look at some of the insane mods your countrymen have done on the original Mini.
Really great! I didn't think that a "real-sized" ma could fit in both the front ad back... But he can!.
I don't car that a normal person can't sit behind the driver, it is still the worlds smallest 3 person car... And it drives a lot better, and more comfortable than a Smart. A simply clever car :D
its the only tiny car that doesnt look cute :)

Toyota 3+1/2 seats , no convertible available
Smart 2 seats , a very nice convertible available
Mini, 2+2 seats, a girly and too expensive convertible available
