@1027MUSICMAN It doesn't come with a lig, but there is a Vandoren Optimum and an Optimum M|O lig that works great! In the video, Kirk is using the Vandoren Optimum ligature.
.....So many supposed 'pro' reeds out there give too bright of a sound (sorry, not a smooth jazzer' ) I still can only play Rico Royals or LaVoz. Hemke's don't last (esp if you play altissimo). Vandorens are all either too bright or too stuffy and are a hassel to play. Alexanders also very 'bright' for my liking.
sounds good in theory, but often it is the reed quality that get 's in my way'. After 22 years playing and good sound concept a bad reed can 'make or break' me......should not be the case, but after all, the reed is the part that initiates the sound and is set into motion to start the vibrations, and when it does not respond, it is like playing on a dead plank! I can't play Vandorens AT ALL for some reason?

The best mouthpiece brand is called YousoundLikeYrself. It is made of hard rubber or metal. Costs around $9.95
