  • AWESOME!! Gives me hope that we happened gone fully to 'sleep' yet. God Bless You guys!!! I shared on our 'Course Of Awakening' Fbook page...

  • I love this poem whether it speaks for kids or not its tough

  • I love how their voices almost sound robotic together!

  • Powerful. A must watch for educators, students and policy-makers.

  • Miguel is My Hero :)

  • Thumbs up if you don't want a classroom equipped with a bucket to shit in.

  • As a former teacher this gave me chills. I love poetry and this one speaks volumes.

  • @egorja if ur right then i commend these kids even more for being willing to step out of their comfortable life styles and being the voice of those cannot be heard

  • LOL I know I'm late but I noticed that Olivia was in every round for Albuquerque. She's great and has a really strong voice. They were all great though.

  • AMEN!!!!!!

  • i wrote a 10 page essay in english about this stuff...i completely agree with these artists

  • Awesome job!

  • omg she said shit thats original

  • There totally is a shit bucket in every APS classroom...

  • This performance made me cry. I am a teacher in APS and feel the same way these kids do.

  • No child left behind is the root cause for what and the way the students are being taught. They are being taught what to say, think and do, not how and this needs to change. We must return the education of our youth back to the parents and the teachers not the politicians in Wash. that only care about indoctrination of the young impressionable minds and controlling the money flow in our communities.

Great job kids, keep up the good work.

  • @Twinsdaddy1 It goes way beyond that. If you do enough research on the US Dept. of Education, you will find documents dating back to it's inception in the early 1900's indicating that the incremental dumbing down of children has been the plan all along. Corporate corruption in all aspects our government is NOT a current event.

  • Saw it just a few minutes ago! As a headteacher in the Netherlands I am proud to work in education because of these students who have learned to think, to inspire, to be creative, just to be themselves! Thank you very much!

  • Absolutely inspiring!

  • Ironically, the creativity of these kids would suggest that Albuquerque Public Schools did a pretty good job.

  • Brilliant... nope, Beyond Brilliant!

Not in Albuquerque, or even USA. and at 49 my school days are long time over but I can still hear the message.

  • wow! amazing! brilliant choral poetry performance on educational pigeon-holing.

  • Brilliant... nope, Beyond Brilliant!

  • I wanna go back to teaching!!!

  • is there a better version of this video anywhere?

  • incredible. They hit it right on the head.

  • Amazing :)

  • The one person that didn't like this was a teacher.

  • @BloodlustBitchx Good, quality teachers hate this high stakes standardized testing just as much as students. The people who don't like this video are the ones who have something to gain by keeping people uneducated.

  • how do you get apart of something like this?

  • i guess "children" are thee future...

    HELL YEA!

  • "there are things we need to know to live but the system will never know that we've learned them."

    on of my favorite lines

  • @handfoster No, it's a bunch of kids recognizing that there is something deeply flawed with their school system and wanting it to be fixed.

  • so basically a bunch of kids complaining that they don't want to study

  • 1 person isn't a person

  • LOVE , indeed my friends

  • the bucket is so true! I hope APS hears that! how is it that I am a junior and go to a private school in albuquerque and Im learning stuff that eigth graders learn about in other states.

  • this in my opinon related to all schools...most test have things that wasn't in the lesson, we study and study but none of the things studied was on the test!

  • Love how this is suitable for every school across the country. they dont care about us. ...we're the future they stress that, and they set us for failure.

  • The point isn't being miserable or not, it is conforming to an education which may or may not suit every child. No one's intelligence should be mesured souly by what they write on paper, or what other people do or don't agree with.

  • true so very true.

  • FUCK YES!!!! no other words can express how amazing this is, this perople have TALENT!

  • Ohhhh my god. This sums up all of my feelings I ever had while attending La Cueva. Damn.

  • anybody have the words to this

  • This is why I love Albuquerque High, we may suck at education, but we have the coolest poetry team. Go Eva. :D

  • This was amazing! Bravo to these incredible teens for their amazing and truthful poem.

  • Oh my God is there another word for amazing?

  • Only I can determine who I am..... absolutely true.

  • like someone else said; stop whining lol typical kids, stupid poem smh.

no one likes taking tests, idiots. your school system isn't any different than anyone else's get over it. that's LIFE. you do shit that you DONT WANT TO DO. shut up. this was the dumbest poem of the day and it deserved its low rating.

  • @CRUNKKGLAM

    Keep your misery to yourself.

  • @SKA92bitch uh, i'm not miserable that's the point. tell that to the "poets" who wrote this..

  • I got my "education" in APS' system too. Not much has changed in over 20 years, I guess. Good to see the strong poetic voices of Albuquerque keep coming too.

  • @ThisSydeUp shut your mouth they are amazing you obviously dont know what they are talking about this hits home.

  • STOP WHINING

  • @ThisSydeUp its not whining APS is absolute crap

  • Generation Entitlement.

I am a small business man in Albuquerque and it is amazing how people don't want to work. I am constantly firing people for being on their phones, showing up late and hungover, etc... My Buddie has a business as well and people can not pass the drug test. Get over yourself and stop blaming others for your failures.

The APS school system is great. Parents are not involved with their kids daily activities.

  • @jonathanabq : It's not about parents either. I had a mother who was ALWAYS involved. I am now in college but my sister is working a dead-end job.

you should also ensure your jobs offer stimulation, growth, etc. A dead end job isn't motivating.

A lot of times it is the fault of others that people fail. Many times, no matter how hard you try the system pushes you down.

  • @jonathanabq

If APS is so solid then explain where all that "misplaced" funding ends up? Millions of dollars "misplaced".

  • @jonathanabq Lulz. So students should not blame APS, but their parents? Gee. I thought we weren't supposed to be blaming others for our failures.

  • Awesome!

  • Beautiful!

  • personally, avatar then childhood then this. but neither of the others have the same messageee. the end, probably the best of all of them. only iiiiiii, can determine who i ammmm

  • Sounds so much like my own scholastic experience, decades ago. From all I've heard, it's actually worse now.

  • Bravo! Politicos are looking at the WRONG MODELS. Many don't realize that the model for education needs to be agricultural, NOT industrial. Children are like plants that have different needs in different environments, not like machines turned out on assembly lines.

  • cool

  • interesting////// some people still don;t realize that the opposite of bravery is not cowardness----- it is conformity. roll your own dice/

  • The lament of gifted kids everywhere.

  • You are all amazing, keep speaking up! Together we can change things, together we can make them better!

  • outstanding!!!!

  • You speak for both students and teachers! Thank you for taking this to a national venue!

  • word.

  • Wonderful and brilliant!!!!

  • I applaud kids who speak up and out against the youth camps we all grow up in. Amazing work and WELL said! Faved and Shared!!!

  • OMG. Fantastic. Brilliant. Keep going!

  • wow, nice piece. Brave kids, exposing the broken system. Keep it up

  • FUCKING BRILLIANT

  • @wsahyo ikr

  • A critical message...thankyou! Keep demanding that corporations quit suffocating creativity and shattering dreams with senseless, irrelevant high stakes tests.

  • @jerrybehm i wish i would have ethought of it

  • Voice gets no better.

  • Resounding applause! Vision and power.

  • Thank you for speaking with such raw force. You were beautiful and correct.

  • Damn fucking straight!

  • BRAVO!!! I hope someone will listen and actually HEAR!!!!

  • We need to get you an audience with our DOE.

  • Wow guys. What an amazing composition. What an incredible performance. I had to watch it twice, but I can't watch it a third time or I might break down crying. I feel your rage. I can't compliment you enough. Thank you for doing this.

  • You all are truly amazing. Thank you for standing up for yourselves and your fellow students!

  • Go Albuquerque High School poetry club!!! hell yea!! show the world what we are about!!!! Great job!! Hope APS listens to this!!

  • @jordanjair12 they didn't they banned it @most schools :I

  • @twilightfan1631 I know, but the board had a ceremony to congratualte them and all the APS board members heard it at the ceremony.

  • @jordanjair12 No they canceled on them Olivia Gatwood even said so

  • @twilightfan1631 are you serious?? Damn, thats stupid! Well at least they all saw it someway or another haha

  • I love this!
