ugh seriously Santorum's reason for almost anything is 'what are the people over there in other countries doing that we don't know about' and why letting hehm do anything without our say so is a big no no.
ron paul has the most intellectual content and substance in his responses. He's not winning anything but at least he's educating the listeners. He's not only in attack mode, but his responses are set up in a way to inform the opponent so he could tell them what's wrong with their own platform. Unfortunately this doesn't get people hyped up to blindly vote for you
@GHOSTJERKER You made a mistake. it is a slight but big difference.
Obama was change.
Ron Paul is returning to the way we should be..
President or not, Ron Paul is LOVE!! Vote love for president because This is the love revolution! Re-love-ution, Love reunion!
Love is ordinary; not extream We The People LOVE our freedom. We just need to remember the definition of the word - Liberty. (cough cough) d:ictionaRY: (;wink-wink;)
@childofthemarshalsea - My point is that if you apply your same standard of morality to judging the workers you have to say they are exploiting Apple because they are working there and not somewhere that pays LESS. I understand you personally don't like the terms, but what drives so many people there to accept the terms? A whip? A gun? Or simply the fact that the terms are better than what they were doing previously? Has their situation not improved?
Wow the first time in 20 debates Romney said his dad was born in Mexico. There`s nothing wrong with that, But it just makes you wonder what else hes hiding. Those Chicago thugs would dig up everything on Mitt. The GOP better think this through.
wait did gingrich just try and say sopa was liberal? its a moderate bipartisan stupid bill. It's ironic i saw that comment on youtube, but i loved it!
@garciachop267 What? Intellectual property is the greatest asset America has. We do have to protect it. SOPA is a horrible law, but we do need to protect copyrights and patents.
@jacero10 IP is the greatest misconception. Real property is physically tangible stuff that can only be used by one person at at time. Ideas cannot fairly be treated as property without infringing on real property rights because using ideas doesn't deprive anyone of anything. Duplication isn't piracy, it's competition, which is the basis of the free market. America doesn't have a free market, it has a mix market which is 90% dominated by federally regulated corporate monopolies.
@garciachop267 and you are the definition of someone who has no idea what youre talking about. his foreign policy is crazy, his idea to make drugs legal is crazy, hes a crazy 9/11 truther. what does all this mean? hes a crazy old man that is living in fantasy land and feeding off of the ignorance of people like you
@coltfanable i suggest you should understand his foreign policy before you call it crazy. he simply wants to seek congressional approval before he acts on another country. and you are in idiot because he never said that he was going to make drugs legal... he said that he would leave the decision up to the individual states. EDUCATE YOURSELF MORON!!!
@childofthemarshalsea - wondering why you chose the word "exploit" in describing Apple's hiring Chinese workers. How exactly are they exploited? I am guessing Apple put up a 'Help Wanted' sign and people responded. Can I say the workers exploited Apple because they are only using Apple for paychecks?
@gorgegnh Let's qualify that. The average Chinese wage is less than $100 a month. The average worker works 10 hours a day, 6 days a week and has no benefits. Apple and all those other businesses that move to China do indeed exploit these workers. If you don't like that word, then would you feel better if I said, "take advantage of"? No matter what you call it, it's the same thing.
Apple did not go to China because of US taxes; it moved there to exploit China's low wages. Even if corporate taxes are cut to 0%, I doubt it will encourage Apple to move back to the US. And to anticipate someone's comment, low wages do not result in low prices. Many of those products Apple makes in China are among the most expensive in the marketplace. You bring down prices with higher productivity which increases economies of scale. So the idea that low wages = low prices is a fallacy.
I'd have to disagree with this. Prices do not correspond to productivity necessarily. You see those lines that go on for 5 city blocks when Apple has a new product and the sheep come to flock at the stores? That's why prices are so high. Because there is a high demand and they will pay those prices for those products. It's a simple supply and demand equation. The real job killer here is Unions. No company can function with those overpaid lazy bodies.
@NoamTube I have never been part of a union but I used to work for an airline and as you know, that industry is heavily unionized. After 9/11, management asked all of us to take steep cuts in pay and benefits to "save" the company and everyone, including the unionized leaders, acquiesced. So I disagree that unions are what is causing these companies to relocate abroad. As for your analogy, every new product that hits the stores is always expensive because that brand still has a low economy of..
@NoamTube ...scale. Obviously there are many factors that will determine the final price of a product and that is why I say that low wages do not result in low prices but that is the argument many people make to justify these good being made in low-wage countries.
the tax question = awesome. look at Mitt squirm and change it into "apologizing for being successful"... no one will scrutinize is success. we just want to know who he's getting money from. period. and he clearly isn't comfortable with that. and notice a few lines later he says 'one nation under god' ... what a smokescreen.
It's funny to watch Romney squirm on the tax release question.
It was also funny to see Ron Paul squirm under the same question.
This is what we get from politicians today: a bunch of buzz words about how they're going to do this that and the other thing. But press them about something like their finances or other information they need to make public, and suddenly they don't have a clear answer. Sad.
santorum purely pulled all of that out of his ass... made barely any sense and he took the whole issue out of context. he obviously doesnt understand anything about the bill he would definetly be easily persuade by a lobbyist to create a new bill along the lines of sopa
What is Romney hiding? I'm sorry but there seems to be a few years that will be missing, and those will be the years that when they some out, will kill his bid
santorum is an idiot, does he not know what a proxy is... the INTERNET is freedom, that you will never be able to take away from us... even if sopa goes threw not this time,, but the next.. we still have ip addresses that you can never block!
