  • Nice place. You are close to Champasak Palace. and close to my Grandma old house at Road 38 and Road 1. I went to Pakse last year and walked around the neighborhood. Too bad she sold the land and the house and immigrated to America. You are right it is very hot there. I stayed at Champasack Palace and my A/C was on all the time. I love Pakse. I hope you enjoy your time there as well.

  • I have really been enjoying myself lately! We'll see with the hot season coming up. I have really been enjoying some restaurants in Pakse lately; and there is an awesome massage place we all go to every weekend... amazing!

  • I'm sorry if you took offense to my comments...I'm actually pretty innocent...I live in Japan...and I don't even use the heater most days (unless students come here to study.....

I use a kotatsu table...which is a small table with a blanket drapped over it wit a small heat lamp underneath....yeah it's cold sometimes but not like Connecticut (my home state)....

Laos was so much better than I could have ever imagined....but I stayed in places without aircon...i just didn't need it...my best

  • no problem... its just that it does get really hot here and sometimes unbearably so.

glad you enjoyed pakse. it is a great city. lots of waterfalls and beautiful places to visit nearby. i enjoy it (most times, except when the craziness of traffic gets to me).

japan must be nice. a friend of mine who teaches in our organization taught there for 2 years and loved it. i think it would be a great place to work or live.

  • well it is a nice place but it seems as though you want an western styled place by what you are saying....One room with everything would be fine wouldn't it? You don't seem satisfied...where are you from ? America? Americans want too much....I was in Pakse too for a few days and a one room place was fine.....don't need air conditioning...just live natural...ah well....

  • first...i don't know where you get these silly ideas about satisfaction. my only complaint might be that the whole bathroom gets wet when you take a shower.

second,if you want to take cheap shots about Americans,go somewhere else.

third, just b/c you are in Pakse for a few days does not qualify you to talk about living there. many Lao live w A/C b/c it gets too hot to sleep at times. really, you don't know.

lastly, please dont assume things you dont know. i dont want a western place.

  • cool. thanks for your Lao lessons with your friend. so why are you in Laos? i'm planning a trip there to visit a friend in tha kak north of savan. we will be helping Lao water resources. with sanitation and hygiene

  • I teach English at the Teacher's Training College in Pakse. I'm only here for a year, but its been awesome and I'm doing my best to learn the language and culture while I'm here.

Are you part of the Ketsana Hurricane relief or just doing regular help with sanitation and water? There are still quite a few rural places that need some good water sources.
