I don't care what anyone says this is an awesome performance. If Mozart was so great as a musician then he would've loved this. Music is all about interpretation and individual style as well as building on the past. I think Mozart would've been proud of himself to know that his music was used as a stepping stone for an advancement in music. I think any musician would feel that way. It just solidifies his place among the greatest of all time.
hei people....winton marsalis...paquito de rivera.....they played with big clasic orchestras all over the world.......and you wich are only clasic trained people and don t have the respect because of your psyco bad training teachers! you still belive that mozart is sacred......heloo this world are allot of people like mozart......even better....rest in peace michael bracker ....i miss you. rest in peace charlie parker....etc
2nd part: people forget that "classical music" in the age of Mozart wasn't the stuck up, un-creative, non improvisational discipline it has become in the 20th. Century. At that time, composers played, and composers improvised, and Mozart himself wouldn't have had any problems with taking somebody else's theme and "playing" with it. One of his works was a set of variations on an obscene German folk song, so, so much for "purity" and respect ;-)
It is so fascinating to see how many comments this video has attracted. Beyond my wildest dreams. I have refrained from commenting about it myself (the "poster"). I just would like to say that for those who feel outraged about a musician doing jazz variations on a "sacred" classical piece, that Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Brahms, Bach, etc., didn't hesitate to write variations on other composers' themes, and to do them in THEIR own style, often very different from the original. So there!
Impresionante!
paquito is the man......... and all the clasic music guys who don t respect him....you can suck him!!!!!!!!!! his a creative man and improviser not robot like others!!!
You are mistaken. It is precisely Paquito that I AM thinking of and I meant all that I said, It's simply bad music making, mediocre clarinet playing and dumb jazz ideas and execution.
I had read that as a youth you were enamored of Benny Goodman but nothing of his elegance, swing, imagination or clarinet abilities rubbed off on you.
@highschoolking YOU ARE A MOTHER FLOWER RACIST THAT ENVY PAQUITO D RIVERA.I WONDER=WHAT INSTRUMENT DO YOU PLAY?TELL ME ,WHERE HAVE YOU PLAY IF YOU EVER?
What a load of insulting crap this is. Awful spready, grating sound with the dumbest conception of what improvisation or jazz is supposed to sound like. And the colossal audacity to do this to Mozart of all the ethereal and sublime composers!
Did you really think your Rossi clarinet was gonna help anything?
The only thing worse than bad taste is no taste at all and you got it kid.
@nedyalkopetkov If you can't hear MUSIC or can't identified a jewel please step aside and don't make any comments, I felt a mix of sorry and shame for you when I read your comment.

PURE MADNESS!!! Grab a 40-something piece symphony, Mozart, Jazz, ... its so crazy its genius..... It would be a great honor to have the chance to share the stage with him!!!!

Racist? No, you've got that wrong too. We're talking about music making here not race. There are great and not great players of all races.
Whatever instrument I might play or wherever I have done my playing is beside the point.
Chill out jcrd9. Not all criticisms are predicated upon race.

googoo. Not true. I just happen to know what good playing both Classical AND jazz sound like.
And incidentally speaking of still being in highschool, the correct contraction for the words "you are" is not "your"; it is "YOU'RE".
