  • Moosejaw and REI carry multiple versions of the five fingers if there are one if these near you and I think Vibram ships internationally. I suffer extremely flat feet and falling arches and I am off to go buy a pair to see if they work as well as everyone says they do.

  • actually theyre not bs they help peopme with bad knees and ankles they help aline your spine and build your calf muscle .. 5000 years ago man did not have shoes we were mebt to walk bear foot this is what the product is for quit hatin faggot cuz ive been wearing theae for 4 years now i dont even wear regualr shoes

  • I Have Been wearing five fingers for the past 6 years and I love and live by them.

Best for all purposes. I have notices so many improvements on everything, Stability, the way I run and the way my whole body feels. Check out fitnesstrance for things I do with these shoes. And the doctor speaks the truth once you wear these you will not go back to regular sneakers.

  • I am so happy that I got my CLAWS back!

  • Chiropractors are about as qualified to give health related advice as a Doctor of Philosophy.

  • thats why my kicks have a lean

  • Great video :-)

  • Is it possible for someone with severe plantar fasciitis to use these ?

  • I've been in the USMC DEP program for almost 6months, the running I've done with my Asics are helping, but they have their drawbacks. I feel weighed down, and my shins do get really irritated. I sometimes run bare foot on the beach for PT, and it does wonders. No lower back pain, no shin splints. I am definitely giving these Vibram Five fingers a try.

  • What is the best pair for walking around and occasionally getting wet, and climbing rock...... how fast would they dry out if gotten wet

  • Pronation and supination do happen at the forearm AND at the foot. Except it is not the same as eversion and inversion at the foot. Pronation/ supination are combinations of movements at the foot.

Pronation is the combination of 1.abduction of forefoot 2.eversion of hindfoot and 3. dorsiflexion.

Supination is the combination of 1.adduction 2. inversion and 3.plantarflexion.

  • this video is one that should be viewed by more people - excellent content

  • It's now mid-Feb. '11 & my feet were starting to feel squished...winter footwear. I thought to heck with it and pulled out my VFFs. An old house, cold floors, and 50+ years old ... the VFFs are then next best thing to going barefoot. I had some real issues when I tried running in them, I injured my achilles. I was impatient. However, when the snow disappears here I will back wearing them outside. My adults sons wear them all the time. They are at college, into sports, and wear them all the time.

  • I'm thinking of trying these, but do they rub against your achilles tendon? If I wear shoes that rub my achilles tendon even a little it gets inflamed. I spent 2 weeks in a plaster cast because of that. So do you think these would be ok for me?

  • Wearing Vibrams isn't exactly using the toes as they're supposed to be - because of that sole you liked so much. The toes feel for the ground and detect the terrain. To truly move the feet naturally, they've gotta touch the ground.

It takes time for the skin and bones to thicken, and the nerves to get used to something actually being there. But then you can just discard the shoes instead of having shoes that pretend not to be shoes. Also feet are waterproof and don't get rocks in them.

  • do these shoesmake your feet sweat? because i noticed you dont wear socks with them

  • @rolandfernandez276 You can wear toe socks with them. Injinji socks are what most places sell. But the KSOs tend to make my feet sweat. Classics on the other hand not so much unless I am doing some extreme exercise and then just wearing them for a long amount of time but that happens with any shoe. The nice thing about these shoes though is you can wash them super easily and dry within an hour or two. I prefer the Classics over other VFF styles, but i do own KSO and Sprints that i enjoy greatly.

  • So I was looking into getting a pair of Vibram shoes when I found my old XC racing shoes. They have 0 cushioning, and are pretty much like the five fingered shoes w/o the toe slots. So is there a point for me to spend $100 on some new vibrams? It seems like they would provide the "correct" running mechanics.

  • My brother uses orthopedic insoles. Every year he gets worse. I think they are weakening his foot. I go barefoot or with slippers almost all of the time. I am going to get some of these Vibram Five Fingers. Where is the best place to get them in Europe? Esp, Portugal?

Which model is the best for a first pair?

  • @XCritonX Not sure what the best place to get VFFs in Portugal, but there is a great resource for information on VFFs at the website birthdayshoes.

Regarding your first pair, it would depend on what you plan on using them for. I wear the KSO Trek at work, the KSO around the house/yard and my Bikila's for running. KSO stands for Keep Stuff Out. The KSO has extra mesh that prevents sticks and debris from entering the shoe.

    Good luck!

  • I cannot tell you how happy it makes me to see a chiropractor enjoying Vibram shoes.

I just discovered them today and am seriously considering buying a pair. I have weak arches and heel pressure and find that most shoes are very uncomfortable and don't allow me to land on my feet the way I want. Understandably, I prefer to ditch my shoes and go barefoot whenever possible.

I'll probably mention them to my friend, who recently had surgery to correct her pancake-flat feet.

  • @QuestionableSidedish Make sure to start slowly. If you have weak arches you will most likely develop some calf soreness from wearing VFFs. Also you can cause heel pain if you continue to heel strike when you walk. As I mention in the post above, check out brithdayshoes the website for a ton of great VFF info.

  • @chairmcnasty It can be used for both...quick google search will show you that.

  • @chairmcnasty Troll

  • @chairmcnasty It applies to the feet as well douchebag.

  • @Diddle1414 You're cool and have friends

  • @chairmcnasty that was a fail at being right. obviously you don't run because pronation has everything to do with feet.

  • @chairmcnasty pronation and supination & Inversion and Eversion is the sametime by usually Pronation superination deals with the feet because its moving away form the body at the distal portion of the body. sorry that you getting killed by this comment

  • @chairmcnasty LOL. Trying to correct a doctor. SMH.

  • Great video. Thanks.

  • I bought my KSO's for parkour and soon found myself wearing them as my everyday shoes. I just bought flow's (which I highly suggest if you're a tracuer) and am buying the Bikilas in the near future. Vibram has it right. All shoes should be made like this, with a focus on helping the body's natural movement rather than the current over supportive model of today

  • My doctor said i have quite flat feet and needed lots of arch support. But i have read that doing this is only bad for you and I need to strengthen my arches naturally. So wearing these Vibrams would help?

  • @Lordgout When you wear shoes that support the arch, you feet don't have to do the work and therefore the supporting muscles atrophy. Vibrams are great for strengthening the muscles of the lower leg and foot if you engage your feet while you walk. If you walk by letting your arch fall to the ground you will most likely cause more stress and potential injury. If you decide to try the five fingers start slowly and be conscious of your foot strike.

  • @bingonis

    Hi Doc ;)

How about running in All Star shoes? Would it give a similar advantage due to their thin and even bottomlayer?

In other words, where oldschool basketballers right all along?

  • @bert0nijs The most important thing is how you run, regardless of the shoe you wear. You can hurt yourself running in Five Fingers if you run with a traditional heel to toe foot strike. On the flip side you can run with a midfoot strike in shoes that provide more support. It's been a while since I've wore a pair of Chuck Taylors, but you might be on to something.

  • @bingonis Thx ;)

  • @Lordgout I have flat feet and tried orthodics and various different running shoes. On my first run with my vibrams, I could immediately tell the workout my arches were getting with these. I would definitely give the Vibrams a try.

  • @rockinsurfkid thanks! I just got mine in the mail last week and I love 'em. I wore them around the office for part of the day and decided to get a pair of the KSO Treks since they're a little more subdued than my white and bright green Bikilas.

  • I was recently at our local running store and the clerk showed me a picture of the new running version of the five fingers. I just got a quick peek, but haven't been able to find anything online regarding this new model. they've added a little extra cushion to the sole with individual pads at contact points. They've also added more cushion in the heel cup to prevent blistering. I'm very excited to see these hit the market, but the expected release is sometime in June...stay tuned.

  • Would you recommend these to someone with flat feet? My feet are really flat and I wear structured shoes like asics for every day use. My dads an orthopedic doctor and he says my shoes are best for me because i have such little arch. He's only one person and i was wondering what your opinion is since you specialize with feet

  • @Goodcharlotterocks13

You have to ease yourself into shoes with no support. Try walking in the grass for 10 minutes a day to begin to form an arch. Take it slow or you will injure yourself the way I did...

  • Woot! Finally we are learning that shoes are for walking slow, and barefeet is for running! (or almost barefoot)

  • @slantphoto I just don't know why it took us this long. Just look at kids, they get this figured out right from the beginning that is until we "teach" them how to run.

  • i want to buy a pair for running and im looking at the sprints but i dont know because around where i live theres alot of garvel and stuff and im afraid itll feel like i always have rocks in my shoes. also theres alot of broken glass too. people put here are terriable about that. but will they get cut open easily??

  • @billabongxx9

No, not at all...they're pretty damn durable. Like the doc said in this video, you will feel whatever object that you step on, but you won't feel any pain. I live smack dab in the city of Baltimore, so you can imagine what garbage/trash we have on our streets. I run to the harbor with no problems what so ever. If I were you I'd wait for Vibram to drop their new Bikila's this month...they'll be more expensive, but I'm sure worth ever penny.

  • @snipercheez

    *****TESTIMONY*****

Last year I was running about 12 miles every other day and some how I got a foot injury which made me stop running. Also, I was having some discomfort in my knees. Heard about these shoes, and had to get a pair. I've been running for about a month and a half with my KSO's without any problems. My feet are getting stronger and I can feel them forcing myself to run with correct form.

    Honestly, they F*cking Rock!

  • @snipercheez I was just in our local running shoe and they showed me a pick of the new running version of the VFF that is expected to be out in June. They look great with a little added cushion individual pads. I haven't been able to find any pics on the web.

  • Comment removed

  • @billabongxx9 I would start out with something a little heavier duty like a Nike Free or Lunar Lite and work yourself into the VFFs. I also live in the city and haven't had any problems with wear and tear. It is a Vibram sole which is very durable. Every once and a while you will hit a big rock that will smart.

  • @bingonis dang i just bought mine today haha. but i bought the sprints. they feel awesome but they feel a little tight

  • i don't know if i'd say that our feet were "designed" to do anything. they "evolved" for this purpose, but i'm not sure if that's design.

  • Well thats just a question of semantics, if you look at it you could use the two interchangeable depending on the context

  • Evolved? From flippers I guess. Yeah.

  • I've been training for a local charity stair climb with my five fingers and just finished this weekend and came in fifth! So the same day I decided to got for my first run in them. Ran about 5 miles on asphalt and felt pretty good. I did use my injinji socks to prevent blistering. This is the first time that I've run outside and it was a success. I talked with someone from a local running store who has been running on golf courses, which will be my next destination.

  • I love my KSO Trek shoes (the kangaroo suede ones) which i wear to my white-collar job and get lots of "looks." I DO NOT like my vibram "classic" five-finger shoes. The tab in the back is a design mistake which causes blisters at the Achilles tendon on both feet. The shoes fit me well -- had some very experience individuals helping me with sizing at the biggest Vibram store in Honolulu - The Wheatgrass Center.

  • Thanks for sharing...that is the first time that I've seen the KSO Trek and I'm going to have to get a pair. I've get to wear my Five Fingers to the office, since I'm the boss there is nothing stopping me.

  • @bingonis Great! You'll love the Treks...they are supposedly the "hiking boot" of five finger shoes, but I enjoy wearing them in the office. They are particularly comfortable without socks since the kangaroo suede is soft against the skin. I do wear them with socks in the office though. Hope you like them -- they come in brown or black. If you don't want to look like the missing link, then I'd suggest the brown ones...LOL.

  • @markpianoman yea dude i think im going to wait (i just hope they come out soon i need new shoes for track.) but i just looked em up and they look really sick. and it says the retail price will be only 100$ thts not too much of a diffrence than all the other ones ya kno?

  • @billabongxx9 Yes, they look "sick" and beautiful -- love it that they are NON-traditional and healthy!

  • @billabongxx9 they are 50 buck now.

  • the store in bloomington is the indiana running company. they carry all models except the moc and performa. thats where I buy mine.

  • I bought mine at Rusted Moon in Broad Ripple and they've started carrying the kids sizes also. I spoke with the running company here in Indy and they said that the verdict is still out on the shoes.

  • Does pronation and supination occur at the foot as well or did you mean inversion and eversion.

  • Pronation and supination both occur at the foot.

  • Love my Vibram KSO's

  • Very informative video. Thank you!
