  • hahahahahahahahahahhahahahh 20 minute fight???? i catch 7 to12 lb buck steelhead on 4lb line faster then that.. 20 mins ????? do you know how to use your fishing rod???? that stream is tiny,,, this fish would take no more then 1 to 4 minute to land.. im surprised you didnt kill this poor trout acting like it was the fish of a lifetime.. i get 25 to 50 rainbows a day out of a river.. all seem to be about this big or bigger

  • big old truck trout.

  • @LordDigz12 Yep. A big ol' Alpers Truck trout!!!

  • I caught a marlin by jumping out of a helicopter and choking it to death with a shoe lace. Nice catch though.

  • @PokemonNuke Did you try to catch it with a pokeball?

  • try using a fly rod and a size 14 single egg with a salmon egg on the carson and just drift it thru the riffle it works miracles im talkin 40 to 100 fish days no joe

  • Is this near the Highway 4/89 area by chance, or more up towards Nevada? I've seen some HUGE fish come from that stretch of the river...

    Beautiful area!

  • It's near the Hwy 4/89 area. In fact, just above the bridge before the turn towards Wolf Creek. It is beautiful and a great spot for some big fish.

  • I know exactly where you speak of... in fact, I've probably run into you guys at that very spot. This was upstream from that deep run that goes under the bridge? I usually fish downstream from that point... more towards Carson River Cabins.

  • Excellent catch...great release..gorgeous fish.

Don't pay attention to the negativity, there is a two word explanation for that garbage....and we call it Fish Envy.

  • 20 MINUTES!!! Dude you need to start using floro so you can put some pressure on the fish. That is a joke that it takes you that long. Dido what jojochoochee said also. Get the damn thing back in the water. After dicking around with it for 20 minutes it is probably dead. Stop being the "fly fisherman" and get some stronger tippet and bring that thing in. I will never use or let my clients use tippet that is so small that they can't bring a fish in quickly. Small fly or not.

  • Thanks for the comment 5hundie. Actually I was using 4x fluorocarbon tippet on my indicator nymph rig. We were catching 10" to 12" fish all day, until I caught and released this stocked Alpers rainbow. The fish was briefly out of the water and returned alive. I hope you and your clients have an awesome summer.

  • quote, "beautiful fish, beautiful fish"...and the guy says "thank you" as the "beautiful fish" is literally dying to get back in the water....catch the fish and put it back in the water before you kill it....so sick of seeing all these people holding exhausted, oxygen starved fish out of the water to get their pictures taken....LAME!!!

  • Relax buddy, the fish was fine.

  • The fish wasn't out of water that long! Take a chill pill, dude.

  • Nice fish! I live in Stateline and fish this river 50+ days a year. I've only seen one other fish as big as the one in your vid netted on the east. My good fishing buddy was swinging a stone fly nymph through the tail end of long hole and got a 26" rainbow that probably weighed 8lbs!

My personal best was a 24" rainbow caught with a big orange stimulator in Markleeville hole during the October caddis hatch.

Thanks for the vid! Catch & Release wild trout!

  • That's a sweet trout. It must have taken a crew of guys to get that one to net...
