Trent Reznor made a career out of this but if it's an answer you want out of an unimaginable count then I believe when in the chorus he says, "Take me back to the darkness" he might mean he is asking a beautiful, god givenly gorgeous woman to take him back to her, or his place, preferably her place, and "Show me Lights," which could be showing him EVERYTHING, thus showing him the lights.
