I have no problem with people coming to live in the UK. Multiculturalism has not worked, because instead of small groups of immigrants arriving and integrating into British society, huge groups have been allowed to come and form their own societies and communities. That has left us with areas of different ethnicities who all distrust and dislike each other. Take Birmingham as an example: there are areas that are pretty much inhabited by whites only, there are areas inhabited by blacks and areas inhabited by asians. They simply don't mix.
it's not even race that clashes, the way i see is is it's religion, namely islam and mainly because of their numbers - that messes things up.

I have no problem with people coming to live in the UK. But the problem i do have is many immigrants not embracing our culture or actually wanting to become British, i'm not referring to just Muslims but Hindus, eastern Europeans etc...its got to the point were many aren't even interested in speaking English and the lack of adapting to our way of life has created many cultural clashes leaving Britain a mess.....multiculturalism= fail.

Multiculturalism has not worked, because instead of small groups of immigrants arriving and integrating into British society, huge groups have been allowed to come and form their own societies and communities. That has left us with areas of different ethnicities who all distrust and dislike each other. Take Birmingham as an example: there are areas that are pretty much inhabited by whites only, there are areas inhabited by blacks and areas inhabited by asians. They simply don't mix.

Here in Ireland we are struggling to maintain our culture and language while immigrants who come here don't contribute, weaken the Irish language by increasing reliance on English, and cry blue murder because they want special rights everyone else doesn't have. Our government is saying multiculturalism is good, how is it good when they're whoring a fragile and vulnerable identity for money and votes? Multiculturalism and PC will be the end of Irish language and culture.

And a lot of the blacks are hard working and go to college, unlike a lot in mainland europe. Do ya not think we have it fairly alright in regards to the type of immigrants here as opposed to the like in britain, france, germany etc.??...I think we should be concentrating on keeping Europe contained with the problem, so Ireland wont have the same in years to come.

We have it fairly alright in terms of there being little racial tension and unrest, but our government is bending over backwards supporting "multiculturalism" that the Irish language and culture are being replaced. We're stressed to learn about other cultures while our own is so neglected. Our geographic position makes it much more difficult for mass immigration on the scale of London or Paris, but that does not mean we shouldn't be vigilant. Our whole identity is at stake.

This is the kind of topic that almost everyone agree upon (unless the most radical left wingers, at least in public).
Personally I don't mind foreigners comming to work, study, be a part of my country's society. But to see other nations cultural diferences replicating, in ways that clearly oppose a nations way of life is not common sense to me. From the small things to aspects that go against the status quo is a big problem on the rise, and an unnecessary one, to me.

When my grandfathers came to the US, they worked hard to learn English and to know how to get along in their new home. Heck, they didn't even teach their kids the old language.
They didn't try to transform their new home into the old ones.

@cshubs Well my parents came to this country they learned English but they taught me French ( my mom is French ), Spanish ( my dad is Mexican ) and I learned English by the time I was in Elementary, nothing wrong with knowing more than one language.
