Over at Bleeding Cool there's a link to an MTV interview with Simon Pegg in which the subject of him playing the part of Wee Hughie in the film comes up, both Garth Ennis & Darick Robertson had Pegg in mind when they created Hughie and film director Adam McKay REALLY wants Pegg for the part and can't imagine anyone else playing Hughie :-)
The trouble is that although Pegg has read the screenplay and loves it, he feels he's too old to play Hughie. :-(
@cha5 Russell Crowe? Maaaybe he could do it. I find it hard to take him seriously though. He's kind of the same in everything.
Henry Rollins? He's about two and a half foot tall and he can't act.
I think Tom Hardy could be good as Butcher. He's a very versatile actor (compare him in Inception and Bronson), and he can do shit-your-pants intimidating (Bronson again).
@LordBifford IMHO That would probably be Annie, if by a truly GOOD superhero, you mean one who is a genuinely sympathetic character and who still has some ideals and basic dignity.
Garth Ennis grew up in Northern Ireland, a land torn by sectarianism, terrorism, gang warfare, and more. He doesn't buy the silly idealism of mainstream superheroes, because he's painfully aware how violent vigilantism really works.
Garth Ennis is the best !!!! i love how he tells the storyes, i love the characters he creates and i love how he can really make you feel that you are reading a realistic story even in a world of superheroes, so far i have read hitman, preacher, the boys, punisher max among others and i loved them, he never writtes a bad story .
@PunkMetalero96 which proves you dont know shit about japanese comics and cartoons. i luv DBZ too but its for kids and doesnt represent the masterworks the japanese have created. i am a fan of comics in general and i can tell you that plenty of japanese authors and artists have been nominated for and have won will eisner awards, so dont go around making sweeping statements that are not even true.
Great comic, first series i've ever really gotten into. Can't wait to see more of Garths "homages" like the new supe team called Fantastico (Fantastic Four Homage) in HEROGASM
I finally read volume 1 of the BOYS. The action and humor were outrageous! Garth Ennis is GOD!
Question: the superheroes resemble the justice league. Will there ever be a Marvel Avengers or X-Men version of superheroes that will take on the Boys?
The G-Men are the Boys' analog to the X-Men. And in similar Garth fashion, none of the teams get along. There's G-Coast, G-Style G-Whiz (much like X-Factor, X-Force, eXcalibur etc.)
FOURTH! The only thing that concerns me is what does the Frenchman do? We know the Female DESTROYS bodies (though we haven't SEEN her do it yet, we've seen the aftermath) but the Frenchman, for being the muscle has yet to do anything but surveillance and keep the Female in check and calm her down when she starts getting anxious to fuck people up.
the Frenchman is specialized in bio feedback or some shit like that, guess he's sort of inspired out of a global frequency character. Means he can break his bones and lose eyes and shit and keep going.
So. This Multiverse theory. It means that out there(which is in here at the same time)exists a reality in which Mr Ennis never wrote a single story. Not even half a page. I feel horribly sorry for those poor cunts that exist in that universe.
Well is a comic book writer. Genius writer for best know for writing The Punisher,The Boys,Preacher,Fury and Fury:Peacemaker, The Pro,Hitman,Hellblazer and Judge Dredd.
So what is the current status of "The Boys", in my country they only released the first 6 episodes and commented at the end that ennis was looking for another publisher.
on vol 4 right now, its ok but nothing on preacher..

isn't it funny how garth ennis hates christianity so much that he can't stop writing stuff about it?
DaveTheSodaGuy0 2 months ago
He's the kind of writer that makes you cry for the next comic fix. His stuff is pure art and will leave you in stitches of laughter.

According to Bleeding Cool Russell Crowe is being considered to play Butcher in a possible The Boys film.
Thoughts anyone? He might could pull off the accent all right, but I always thought Butcher might look a little more like Henry Rollins.
cha5 11 months ago
@cha5 I think if Henry Rollins could pull off the accent, then hell yes, but Russell Crowe would be great too.

We feature The Boys in one of our videos in our new comic review channel. We'd appreciate it if you checked it out. Yes, this is a shameless plug...

It seems every superhero in The Boys is a jerk, even The Boys themselves. Is there at least one truly GOOD superhero who resembles the comic books.
LordBifford 1 year ago
@LordBifford IMHO That would probably be Annie, if by a truly GOOD superhero, you mean one who is a genuinely sympathetic character and who still has some ideals and basic dignity.
(despite all she's gone through with The Seven)

@cha5 Annie's good-natured, but does she actually get to do good works or she is just a puppet of Vought and the Seven?

@knightking1360 True enough, Osamu Tezuka (the godfather of Manga)
is in the Eisner hall of fame which has also giants like Jack Kirby, Carl Barks, and other all time greats, so Tezuka is in good company.
