I wonder, looking at Mr.Perlman´s look while she plays, if he ever had to struggle as a child to play like he does or if he was a damn genius and all of this came effortlessly...very nice segment, back from the good old days before SS transformed into that idiot Elmo´s show...
It's very simple: talent is not naming work, work. Mr. Perlman and all the others in his league played the instrument for hours and hours every single day and probably did not have time for much else. There is this combination of passion and obsession that makes you play like this, which to the others looks so self evident and effortless.
Perlman is such a good violinist. you can really tell when its him because the piece has so much more feeling than if anyone else plays it and this is why hes the best.
A few years ago, two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later, the babysitter was calling to ask if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said,"Take the kids and get out of the house. We'll call the police, we don't have a clown statue." The "clown statue" is really a killer that escaped from jail. If you don't post this letter on to 10 videos tonight, the clown will be in your bed at 3:00 am with a chainsaw in his hand;sorry i didnt want that happening to me.
perlman will never learn to run up the stairs like her. but making her compare this to her playing is dumb, because she can learn. I dont like this video. Perlman thinks about himself as a genius as much as everybody does. He isn't perfect at all, his recordings are never the best.
@Sorcerer2k I can't agree with you but after all, who is the best? No one in this world we are living in has a human being who perfected anything. The reason why someone would be better than someone else in anything is because there isn't perfection. It is all based on opinion. Thats why we have good or bad.
@xbasket12x: We do have good or bad, because some invest in their abilitys and some don't. It has nothing to do with "talent". It's just good training and education. we never reach technical "perfection". But there is some perfection quality wich is required at world class level.
Coming from the proper social background perlman could evolve his violin playing in spite of his polio and he had the will to continue until he is on the top level. I respect that, but its not compareable with this girl
@FiddlerAdam Well, the person who told me he was mean said that he just acted rude and stuck up. I guess he just find of came on stage and asked "So what concerto am I playing?"
This short video explains why Perlman is way above all his "colleagues"... You can hear the soul and the heart in his playing. Generosity, empathy, humanity : this are the qualities that make a musician a great artist.
haha i love it she goes flying up the stairs and poor perlman is like wait for me holy crap!! no but seriously.. perlman... incredible.. im speechless.. who wouldnt be? i reccomend listening to his beethoven violin concerto 3rd movement :)
@Benj888 What do you mean why? Because I love her! She doesn't have to like the same things I like. And, I was just teasing her a little when I said she doesn't appreciate good music.
poor guy, he had polio the best violinist ever in my opinion.
