Even if Wicked was filmed live on Broadway, it would probably, like Rent, be filmed after it's made into a movie. And if, like Rent, it's last Broadway show was filmed...well let's just say Wicked wont be saying goodbye to Broadway for a VERY long time.

They should also make a movie version based on the book. This one would not be a musical.

I absolutely agree. There are rumors of Wicked being turned into a movie, but nothing certain. With Wicked I don't care much about Idina being part of the cast... I actually prefer Eden. But Kristin Chenoweth... Oh, she HAS TO BE ON ANYTHING FILMED, either on broadway or movie.

I'll agree with you on Kristen Chenowith, but Idina Menzel brings a certain 'something' to all of her roles. If Idina is in the Wicked movie, then I won't complain. Nor will I complain if they choose to cast someone just as good as her.

BTW: They are planning on turning Wicked into a movie. The only thing is, that the movie's planned for release in 2010. I wish it was sooner, but it's not. Sorry.
