  • oo warm and fuzzy

  • Why wait 'til May?

  • Kissing in August is nice as well.

  • wow i never knew that, wish we would have that here. .lol. .although i've been single my whole life. .lol

  • Hey Caroline :)

Nice video, quite artistic. Its a great tradition for a spring afternoon.

  • So nice to hear from you. I'm still up for a collab video any time you request. I'll let you know the next time I have a project in mind. :) How are you?

  • Another awesome video! What software do you use to edit it?

  • Actually, I had to use 2 programs this time, which lowered the quality. I recently found an outdated version of the program Cyberlink Power Director. It has good transition and text options, but at the end when I was ready to narrate, I realized that it was not recording my voice properly. So I saved the movie I had already been working on and then opened/saved it in Win Movie Maker just to add the narration in better quality. I think saving it in 2 programs made the visual quality inferior.

  • what a beautiful tradition :)

  • I agree. Thank you for dropping by.

  • Well Done. I like the way you presented this video. May 1st seems nicer than February 14th.

  • I think it is a bit nicer than Valentine's Day. I think this May 1st holiday is less pressure for gift-giving, card writing, and dinner reservations than Feb. 14th.

  • Hay! Count me in :)

  • I knew you'd want to take part in this holiday. :)

  • That is one cool statue, Caroline. I wonder how much attention he receives from May 2nd to April 30th. I am sure he is aphrodisiacal on days other than the old May Day. :)

    Frank

  • I think you are right, Frank. I'll have to check how much kissing goes on there on other days.

  • Very nice vignette on Czech culture and customs. It was inspirational (voyeuristic) to see all that kissing. I didn't get my kiss either, but we can have something to look forward to, can't we? Maybe next year.... :)

  • Are you saying that you want to kiss me next year? Aw, Ken, I thought you'd never ask. I'd be happy to kiss you. :)

  • Certainly MUCH better than parades celebrating communism!!!

  • Oh, yes, Robert. I read that it was a sort of Labor day (as it still is by calendar), but that people would have "troubles" if they did not attend the parade which showed their support for their government, regardless of what they really thought.

Now, one may have troubles on May 1st if they don't have anyone to kiss. But, really, people can do whatever the heck they want on their day off...most of them decide to have a stroll through the park with their lover, which is quite nice to see.

  • Prague is for LOVERS!

  • It can be seen as quite a romantic town. I see people kissing almost every time I walk through the center; there's just a lot more of it on May 1st.

  • What a tradition!! Did you get your kiss?? :D

  • Judy, I was all warmed up watching all that kissing, but my husband had to work, so I called him and he kissed me by phone, and later when he got home. He promised to give me my May day this weekend. We'll see.

  • very nice

  • Thanks.

  • yay! you are back!!! what a cool tradition.

    did you get your kiss?

  • Yay! Yeah, I sometimes take breaks from youtube. I didn't get my kiss...my husband had to work late. He did kiss my over the phone and when he came home that night. :)

  • What a cool holiday, like Valentine's Day without all of the crap that goes with it.

  • Hi Van! Yes, it is a nice version of Valentine's Day. Western V-day is recognized here, but locals often look at all that crap in the shop windows in February and shake their heads, saying, "Why buy all this candy and heart crap when we have our day of lovers on May 1st? We can stick with our own traditions, thank you."

I really did get flushed after hanging around for 20 minutes by that statue...so much kissing and hugging. :)

  • Very cool tradition - quite the antithesis of communism. Make love not war. :)

  • Hi Danny. May 1st is something quite different than it was a couple decades ago. I only read about the mandatory parade, but many older Czechs remember it quite well. It wasn't that long ago, really.
