  • 240p we meet again...

  • will the battery still work after a fire?

  • Don't get cheap lipo battery... You want to spend at least £30 for decent ones.

  • And the Chevy Volt has a much larger version of those batteries sitting under your backside.

  • @DShere As does the new Prius, Civic and almost all upcoming hybrids/full electrics.

  • @meandmyevo Yeah, I'd heard that too.

And the First Responders have to be careful with how they work the accident scene so they don't die in the process.

    Quite comforting.

    *snort*

  • Fascinating post, thank you.

  • I almost had money that this Was Chinese Made crap until I hit yer Website and read all the great news.

Completely made in Cali USA from US Materials! Impressed.

  • my sisters friends house burned down due to a lipo bat

  • A little cancer for you ?

  • Just take LiFePo`s theyre much better and cant explode

  • I think charging it on a outlet outside your house is much safer than in the house with or without the lipo sack.. Because with the lipo sack inside the house your still getting toxic smoke! impless it would probally still burn through did you see the ending the fire was still in the bag, but you should never leave it unattended and without thats just even worse!

  • Watch, one year from now the TSA is going to realize how dangerous laptop batteries are, and the federal government will contract this guy to produce a ton of these. TSA agents will have a pile of them to put people's laptop batteries in during flight. You'll have to remove your battery, put it in one of these, and drop the sack in a bin after the flight. Just one more hassle they'll put us through.

  • I don't get why a LiPo battery is better and why you have to get special modifications for stuff and charge it in a "sack".

  • @SlySquriel I think the main idea is to keep anything from starting on fire.

  • Is it possible to put the liposack inside of a very large plastic garbage bag or similar to contain the fumes? I would love to see a video demo of that.

  • My friend was destroying his mp3 player and it started hissing, smoking and got all hot, but luckily he threw it out the window.

  • son of a bitch!!! did you place some gun ponder in it? jeeeeee wizzzzzz

  • This is like Chernobyl in your house. The things we do to make our RC's go faster...

  • @chonyc77 couldn't have said it better.

  • lithium smoke. don't breathe this.

  • Reminds me of Fukushima power plant

  • 2:00 We have liftoff.

  • I'm putting one in my teachers apple..

  • @latinluigi theres already one there!!

  • Take a deep breath, it's good for you!

  • Chemistry is fun!

  • how dose the battrey explode?

  • can you re-use the liposack or are they basically done once one explodes inside?

  • they are violent little bastards aren't they jeez

  • Thanks for the video. I work designing systems with Li/Poly batt. backup. Good to see in a vid rather than a client's face.

  • Liposack = awesome

  • damn battery you scary

  • one time my 3 cell lipo caught on fire when I tried to fix it after crashing my heli. then i panicked and accidentally threw the battery inside my car then I went into my car and threw it outside.no damage to the interior but the smell of lithium smoke lasted for 2 days! I Coughed smoke that day!

  • lol at 2:31 it wet its pants

  • lol at 3:09 it wet its pants

  • hey mann i got this cool new plane...wanna check it out..10 min later.....as i flick this switch....dude cool...wha???..the smoke bomb.....what do you mean???the switch opened the flaps...nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo..smasch

  • i keep breathing, i keep keep breathing love :P

  • @PharaoRamsesII Toolbag, it's Bleeding Love. Yeah I'm gay for knowing that, so what?

  • Emergency care package incomming

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah but... will it blend?

  • Hotboxin ahaah

  • @AJH0014 You need to overcharge the battery, so you just need to charge it longer than intended. a damaged battery can result in this too.

  • burnt popcorn

  • might need to order a few of these...

  • great vid,, thanks for sharing

  • Hey hey!!! Model rockets! 0:40

  • THIS is why I install protection circuits on my LiPo batteries.

  • rocket lipo LOL 0:39

  • are new charges auto trun off when the battery is full do do i still need to keep an eye on it

  • I've heard people's computers have blown up because a short in a damaged/broken computer draws too much current from the battery and blows it up.

  • What exactly is "lithium polymer"? It sounds like it makes no sense. Polymers are plastic, and nonconduction. Lithium is a conductive metal. So what's "lithium polymer"?

And isn't shorting these batteries even WORSE than over charging voltage, charghing with not enough current limiting, or reverse polarity charging? Isn't shorting these out the worst way to blow them up?

  • @BenHutchinson1

    It's called a lithium polymer battery because it's a lithium-ion battery that uses a polymer-gelled electrolyte.

Short circuits create lots of heat (which can cause a fire or explosion) but when Li-Ion batteries are overcharged they become unstable to the point where they catch fire.

  • @FoamPackingPeanuts however once the outer layer burns off if quick enough the oxygen reacts with the lithium to really burn!

  • 0:41 wow a rocket! wouldn't want that to shoot at me though.

  • just keep an eye on your battery while its charging cause they get like 3 times bigger and get so hot your workbench starts to smoke before they blow up

  • Wow! I was looking into lipos. I will absolutely be using a lipo sack. it seems a must to have for lipos no matter how much they cost. if it will save my house from catching fire I'm willing to pay any price.

  • @RCFANATIC1996 Charger technology has vastly improved since this video was posted. Use a balancing charger and never charge using current above 1.8 amps. Also, never charge damaged packs or run packs below 3 volts per cell. I have been using packs that are 3 years old, and they are still going strong.

  • @NorthWestParkFlyers I finally got lipos. I love them. I got a very good, safe charger. it won't overcharge/discharge and it monitors the volts of each cell even if it's not on balance mode.

  • @RCFANATIC1996 Cool! Just remember to time your flights so that you don't discharge them below 3 volts. They should last a very long time. Happy flying!

  • @NorthWestParkFlyers yep, pretty cool lol. I don't fly, I drive. lol I would like to get in to flying planes. it looks really fun and cool. I just don't know what plane to start with.

  • @RCFANATIC1996 Oh...thats right. I dont know about rc cars with regard to their power requirements, so I couldn't advise you on run time. There are devices on the market that measure power parameters such as voltage draw, amperage draw and wattage. Google 'watts up meter'. This device plugs in to the circuit between the battery and the ESC and displays all the affore mentioned parameters while your motor is running. As for a good beginer plane, Horizon hobbies offers a plane called Super Cub.

  • @NorthWestParkFlyers I run an esc with a low voltage cutoff. it cuts off at 3.2 volts per cell. I was looking in to the super cub. have you ever looked in to any trucks or cars? they are really fun. with brushless and lipo batteries they are blast. I run a traxxas slash 4x4. very fun. and things seem more likely to break when you crash from the air. than when you blast into a tree on land lol.

  • @RCFANATIC1996 I've never really looked at rc cars. I have always been interested in rocketry and aircraft since I built my first dime-store rubber band powered airplane roughly 40 years ago. I started bulding stick and tissue models when I was 7 years old, and I got into rocketry when I 10. Crashing is part of the game. Repairing a smashed bird is as much fun as flying. Its usually pretty cheap too.

  • @NorthWestParkFlyers yeah, I just like rc trucks because you can drive them everywhere. I am really looking in to getting in to flying. either planes or helis. I did helis a few years back but quit. I am interested in aircraft to but have never really jumped in to the hobby. I like repairing my trucks. to me that's just as fun if not more than driving. plus when you crash your truck it doesn't crumble lol. but I guess there really is a difference between the materials used for land vehicles.

  • i WOULD DO THIS IF THEY DIDNT COST FUCKING 75 BUCKS

  • @dingbat667 .99 cents plus 4 buck shipping straight out of China via ebay. I got one for this very reason. I have never had any problems but as my 4 year old started hanging out more and more around my hobby bench I consider it a must.

  • this somehow happened with my iPod, i always wondered why it burned a hole straight through the garbage can i threw it in.

  • Yeah that Lipo sack REALLY got most of the smoke. Now you're only "Slightly" Dead.

  • 1:03 I think the point was made, did you really need to use a "explosion effect" fade?

    LOL

  • but where does the fat go?

  • 1:00 smoke smoke smoke smoke EXPLOSION!!!

  • would make a nice V2 rocket?

  • this IS bether then burning poop sack!!!!!

  • well i definitely dont want a Li-Po for my AEG now

  • Comment removed

  • U GO LIPO SACKS!

  • Thank you LiPo Sack I had a airsoft LiPo battery explode and this bag saved my house. Definitely suggest anyone with a lipo battery out there get one of these cause the explosions are dangerous and even the smoke renders the house unlivable. I will always use lipo sacks with lipo batteries.

  • if charging on of mine right now

  • This is why I install protective circuits on my LiPo cells.

  • that looks really fun

  • Wohooo! Toxic smoke!

  • @martie076 not as bad as a house on fire

  • popcorn

  • The last ones are the new generations of smoke gernades

  • The next generation of frags!

  • I heard Lipo's can really wear out the gun internals and that the internals will have to be replaced every 2 months

  • @AdamMoss13 not if you have a lipo-ready gun

  • not at all dude... =D I've only gone through a gearbox shell and a XYT gearset and a piston ONLY lolz Thats cause TM guns aren't even close to being lipo ready xD My Kwa has been on a Lipo diet and its fine! =D

  • i bought a lipo ready JG M733 from evike and ive been using a lipo for a while and its still going and it has perfect rof and very good trigger response

  • this smoke is toxiq?

  • @bober9989 well to be safe, dont inhale it

  • this is why so many people fear lipos. because of these videos. if you're charging under 10 amps, you don't really need a lipo sack. the two reasons for lipo explosions are 1. people overcharge the battery. 2. people arent taking the necessary charging precautions.

  • Well not always, ive had a lipo explode from impact when my f-35 took a nose dive. was really messy t.t

  • hey and what are the necessary charging precautions

  • The way i charge my LiPos is to get a safe charge pouch and put the lipo in the puch then take the puch with the lipo in it and put that in a bucket of sand and charge at 1c. takes about an hour and you need to balance every once in a while. i balance every 5 charges. never leave the LiPo plugged in when its not in use either!

  • thank you for puting this video on here i know what i am buying when i buy a lipo i am buying a liposack

  • 1:01 camera gets owned

hopefully this will not happen to my new and first high end RC

  • @NTComputer86 Newer generation lipo batteries take a LOT of punishment before this happens.

  • thats good to know. yeah mines got balance connectors, which sounds like a technology that wasnt originally on the first lipos.

  • @NTComputer86 Mhm, plus lipos are made with a more stable chemical mixture and a more durable outer shell. If you look up a guy on here called ScaarAT, he has a video where he tries to destroy an airsoft lipo (the design is still used with RC vehicles, this one is just set up for airsoft use). He puts it through hell and they have to stab it with a sharp object before anything happens.

  • nice, yeah my friend uses the same battery in his airsoft machine gun as he does in his rc.

  • worked with lipo and LiFe batterys for ages, only one has exploded cause of shitty charger

Get a good Quality batterys and charger and you wont need a lipo sack

but no harm in the safety

  • No it won't happy to a PSP battery. The "Pandora" only turns the battery into a "service mode tool" it doesn't do anything with voltage. Relax. I mod PSP's all year and sell them and there is never an increase of voltage on a voltmeter.

  • In most modern lipo batteries for stuff like airsoft these lipo "fires" will never happen under normal use, only if you do something really, really dumb, like puncture it intentionally and reapeatedly or something.

  • Liposack. Dont leave your home without one.

  • Is the smoke poisonous?

  • wil this happen to a moded psp batery?

(pandora battery) plz answer qiick cuz i moded mine and i dont know if i should throw it out

  • ohhh... bad idea it probs wont explode but it could break ur psp with too much power or at a different rate... i recommend puttin back in the old battery

  • cool

  • i think it's good idea to put the LiPo in those sack while charging plus place it in a metal tools box aswell. (making sure not to close the lid shut or too much pressure can build up when blown.

Also, having some sack of sand bag in case fire happens.

  • these make nice smoke bombs :P

  • @panhead88 haha fricken expensive smoke bombs!

  • @panhead88 haha ya

nothings better than a 80$ smokebomb!

  • @panhead88 yeah but they also heat a lot and pretty fast. so becareful!

  • @panhead88 Nice expensive smoke bombs

  • @neighbor98 Nice expensive DEADLY smoke bombs :P

  • @panhead88 $60-$100 smoke bombs

  • @lamb445 not if you buy zippy lipos! $35-$50 a lipo!

  • @panhead88 fck i wanna make a real bomb not pussy shit like sparkler bombs and smoke bombs

  • @panhead88 Very expensive smoke bombs.

  • Holy shit

  • dont forgot to bring a lipo sack :D

  • Damn iPod's.

  • @YoungGeekGuy iPod's are working with Li-Ion batteries, and those are less dangerous

  • No they are lipo, I will gladly send you a picture of the one from an old iPod video I have.

  • "Don't breath this!"

  • @monster271 lipo smoke

    rc smoke

    acid smoke

    power smoke

    11.4v smoke

    7.6v smoke"dont breath this" hahaahahah

  • damn if I saw this I would run like a little girl!

  • im kind of scared now i took my 07 ipod nano and pulled the bartty and bent it all up and heated up and almost burnt my hand so i threw it out the window im so skrewed if my mom finds out lmao

  • lithium ion and lithium polymer are two different things

  • there goes your rc car...

  • so is this the result of overcharging?

  • exactomondo

  • the fish tank worked well ill use one of them instead as i have 3 lying around

  • Poor Batteries....

  • poofff

  • Omg cool... Nice explosions :)

  • oh shit. I was just reading specs on wikipedia at for iPods, and I have an old iPod classic 2nd gen (the second model to come out), and noticed it has one of these batteries. The 3rd gen and later use lithium ion batteries.

I hope to hell my battery never explodes and ruins my beautiful iPod.

  • LiPos are a further development of LiIon batteries and you have to take equal caution not to short-circuit, overcharge or puncture them. Thats why LiPo/LiIon batteries in consumer devices always come with a protective casing and some electronics to prevent overcharge, complete discharge and short circuits.

  • These batteries were connected directly to power and intentionally severely overcharged to purposefully induce explosions. The li-poly/li-ion batteries in consumer electronics devices have control circuits built in to prevent overcharge. Explosions on consumer devices are extremely rare, and I've only seen a few cases of it with iPods.

I'm fairly certain Wikipedia's specs are incorrect and that all iPod models use li-poly batteries. However, both li-poly and li-ion are equally temperamental.

  • I'm pretty sure mine has a li-po because it has a thin foil shell around it, and it is flexible. it is also very big compared to the ones in the iPods they have now.

it is thicker and covers the whole back of the unit, whereas in the new iPods, it is a small thin battery which covers the width, but is only like 1 inch tall.

  • Yeah, that's how even the ones it listed as li-ion look, so I'm pretty sure they're all li-poly, both yours and the newer ones. Not sure why Wikipedia has it that way.

  • false, all ipods use li-ions, not lipos.

  • generally you have to deliberately do something wrong to get this sort of thing to happen (as the people in this video will have done). though make sure you always use the right charger.

  • um no. it has a li-ion, not a lipo.

  • You're simply incorrect.

    wikipedia org/wiki/Lithium-ion_battery

    wikipedia org/wiki/Lithium-ion_polymer_battery

You simply have to look at all the ipod battery replacement videos to prove yourself wrong. There are no huge cylinders in them; only a square, pliable bag. That's lithium polymer.

  • WOW LOFL

  • where's the fucking sound ?

  • This should never happen with a balance charger. If your charging Lipos then get a Balance charger and they won't explode duh! The charging circuit protects this from happening.

  • after watching this video ...

I THINK I WILL BUY THIS FUCKING SACK...

Better for my house lol :P

    Thanks for the vid

  • LOL

    SAME HERE

  • At 2:30 the sack looks like it shat itself.

  • why do u do this? based on what ive seen those batterys ar 75$-150$, NOT CHEAP AT ALL

  • LiPo cells aren't dangerous if used properly.

  • Damn, to think that those things are in all our phones we constantly hold next to our face.

  • The batteries," I wANT to BreAK Freee~, I WaNt To BreAk FrEEeEeE!~." :)

  • hehe. Those would be fun to have in a pacemaker....

  • no sound?

  • Shut the fuck up about the atmosphere.

  • Dang, You could grill a chicken over that

  • and make it taste like batter acid acterward :P

  • true

  • Gawd damn I dont even want to charge the bitch now.

  • hahah i have one XP

im scared it will blow lol

  • this is why MOST li-poly's come with a smart charger that stops charging when it is completely charged

  • yeah.. but once you empty the battery fully.. it's dangerous to recharge and use it again...

  • Man that's crazy. I better get a lipo sack! Could burn your entire house down easy.

  • yo.. stop blowing up batteries. i hope your disposing of the material properly.

  • They blow the batteries so that we dont have to have our houses burnt down...

  • The Liposack looks like a damn good idea! I'm definitely going to get one if I wind up using li-polymer batteries on anything.
