You keep forgetting that a lot of black and white people are part native american. I do not like you using the word "polluting"when it comes to miscegenation. If people say you dont look like an Indian it means that you probably look too white to be recognised as one (which means you are not a pure Indian). Some people in this clip looked more white and so are mixed Indian-white.
i posted something on a different page but dont think it worked im computer retarded. anyways i really liked your video thanks for making me a little less ignorant
When my father was young, there was one indian family in town. People looked down on them because they were different, even though the father worked hard and the mother raised several kids (10, I believe). One of those kids ended up becoming my landlord years ago and told me about the things that family went through. They truly know what discrimination is. Now, if you so much as look at an indian wrong they will want to beat you up. I know...indians in my own youth group did that.
I grew up in Canada in a city that was 40% native Canadians. A few of my good friends were from the reservation. I dated a couple native Canadian guys. I don't like being grouped in with racist whites. Maybe it is different in the USA but in Canada, unfortunately, especially in Alberta and Saskatchewan a large percentage of native Canadians are on welfare and the jails are about 85-90% native Canadian.
Well part of the problem is that the majority of people who have that range of facial features are either Mexican or white. So unless you're wearing traditional stuff then most people are going to assume that you're white or Mexican because that is what most people here are.
As for them saying "you don't look Indian." That's just stupid. Most people don't know anything about history beyond the twisted an innacurate representations found in movies.
Well said. Love it at 1:21 when the buffering circle makes it look like an earring on that guy's ear:-) Oh, and btw, do you know that "Tonto" means "stupid" in Spanish?
awesome! i would like to do a video like this too but with my own experiences as a woman. i just recently did a video of me cutting all my ndn hair off cause white people kept petting me.
I'll tell you the truth. I'm a Black from the US and I have never met a US or Canadian Indian in my life. In fact, I have never seen one except on TV and in old photos. OTOH, I have grown up around Mexican Indians (as in they don't speak Spanish, but rather some Aztec or Mayan dialect). Ironic, really.
i am more upset at black people when it comes to this..they will ban with white people when it is them who have done someone else wrong..but any other time they will fight with white people.pretty messed up.
good job man. you dont look indin at first but i can see it in you face in the pic with the red shirt, it pisses me off too about how they think we still look and live like we did over a hundred yrs ago. ppl dont know what an indin looks like today, and that's the honest truth. that's the reason they still put us in feathers and we all say " how" and things like this. also it isnt always blood that makes you indin, its your lifestyle and family and traditions, if your indin you know you are.
@eibborlee yeah my great grandfather was a full blood cherokee and I consider my self native american and am proud about it. Its all up to what you self identify with.
i somewhat agree with your video but i do agree that its about culture not blood quantum the problem is when the more mixed raced one think they are better and superior the the full blooded and traditional natives that is how non indians think that they are better than someone else im native and traditional i speak my language i not not no more or less than any other race but we are different and thats a good thing
Along with my heritage I have an illness that 'allows' me to look normal on the outside but inside my body is racked with pain. No one sees that pain, so does that make it less real. It isnt always heritage that causes people to mistreat others. I could tell you so much about our genetics that I have learned. I may not know as much as you, but I respect you for who you are from the little I have learned. Blessings Always.
I have watched several of your videos today and although I have to admit I sat back and applauded you openly on some of your comments, I find it horribly sad that people cant get past what they see on the outside.
The thing with Mexicans and other people is that alot of them don't know their history.language, etc due to the colonial mentality. You see it in the Tv shows.Just look at the telenovelas and you'll see nothing but pure whites or predominantly whites.Alot will also flat out deny they are "indio" because of they are brainwahed that white is "better".This goes back to the colonial era.
Btw,you don't look pure white there is something about the face. You also don't look pure indian. You look like alot of Mexican mestizos. You lobviously look mix.
most of these indians/native americans look like they are mixed with white/caucasian. Wouldnt Natives look more Asian? These people look just like Mestizos (I am a Mestizo)
Some of them are mixed with white. Some are not. The point of the video is to show that Indian people don't all look the same. And other issues are addressed too. Stereotypes.
because these natives are mixed like some black people in the u.s vanessa williams doesnt look like like wesly snipes its a bout culture the might be considered black in the u.s but in african countries they are not african im from mexico people me look native but in cuturally they are spanish go to indian country in mexico you will se the difference whos indian, whos mestizo , whos white mexican
