  • "Routines mark the arrest of growth." What utter nonsense!! Routines are the foundation of growth. Unless you have routines in the class day and in learning, you have no framework for growth to take place. No wonder the American public school system is a pathetic joke and kids can barely read or write.

  • I was just assigned a paper on the fourth chapter of "Experience and Nature." I understand not what this man says!

  • That's Faulkner at 3:10 not Dewey

  • And oh yes, I made a mistake and mixed up a pic of William Faulkner at 3:10. Sorry about that.

  • I'm glad so many find there way here! I made this for a graduate course presentation. I'm an educator myself, and I recognize the importance of Dewey in the evaluation of education. I'm glad he was around to focus attention on education through the modern period. Since I get a lot of comments from people who like it and some that despise Dewey, I figure that I'll tell you that I'm not a big fan of Dewey, I'm indifferent,, but I did enjoy learning about him. I'm glad I studied Pragmatism.

  • John Dewey lol idk if I'm related 2 him

  • Dewey was the single biggest cause of the current failure of Public Education. Just listen to the words of the "Father of Edu-Babble"!

His absurdly complex, and ultimately meaningless, concepts did enormous damage to a functioning school system. That, along with the Pseudo-Science of Phycology, has made US Education (K-12) the laughing stock of the developed world!

  • @ManchuDan22 Uh.... what? The American school system is not at all based on Dewey's ideas.

  • @MonsieurEm Partner, you REALLY need to some books, before you say such a ridiculous thing. I suggest E.D. Hirsch, The schools we need and why we don't have them".

  • @ManchuDan22 A cursory look at Dewey will inform anybody that his theories on education involved learning as a social and interactive process. I'm afraid one doesn't need to read anything to understand that the American educational system is absolutely nothing like this. I don't care who says Dewey influenced what, I'm just calling a spade a spade.

  • Great video thank you

  • All I hear is words

  • @festyosemtex

Hello, maybe you need to update your flash player? Looks fine to me.

  • lovely. Thank you. Would be happy to see more about Dewey on Youtube.

  • He switched some vocabulary so he sounds smarter than Hegel who he plagarized. Power = dependence is rewritten hegelianism.

Habit now means its opposite!Intelligence is invoked? applying capacities to new aims?

Education = reorganizing? what a load of empty words. no wonder no school can truly follow his philosophy no one takes him serious outside of some kooks in Teachers College. Dewey switched his philosophy from Hegel to James to Connectionism instrumentalism,

    Otherwise nice video

  • I never noticed that Faulkner did look like Dewy before

  • Yes, sorry for the bad pic.

  • nice!
