You're 50 years too late with this rant. The US Supreme Court already decided that you have NO RIGHT to a dime you (forcibly) contributed to social security (Flemming v Nestor, 1960). Since the law of the land ALREADY states that we have no right to social security receipts, this makes "privatization" of social security a moral necessity. We MUST have "privatization" in order to secure the property rights that the Supreme Court has denied us.

All markets are neither free not fair and since law would be required to make such a thing happen then that law could be changed like in the case you cite. Social Security was set up PRECISELY so that people would have a basic safety net in old age or via disability BECAUSE of the Stock Market Crash in 1929. Private investments are ok, as supplement, but what if they FAIL? You'll be left out in the cold, that's where. Millions of the elderly today would be left homeless TODAY, without such a program in place. There is no way, even via stock-market, that the average pee-on in America can 'secure' their investments on a salary of 30k per year.
The social security FDR setup would only work with a sound money policy. It will not work after the U.S. government abandoned the gold standard in 1971. After that, the rate of inflation was faster than the gains from the interest rates on social security. This is why it doesn't work anymore! The money you get today is worth more than the money you will get back 40 years later!

Unfortunately SS has gone to more than just retirement....disabled people have also gotten SS and taken out far more than they have put in...couple that with people living longer...yes it sucks since 401K's are no longer an option..in addition our houses are worth less than we owe AND you can not sell them anyway....they do not want us to have a safety net, or any assets of any kind.
I have been disabled since 2/82 but I managed to keep working until I had a back injury in 2000. I paid into this insurance system for 27 years and don't feel a bit guilty for cashing the tiny check they send me.

I figure demographics (baby boomers) + looting of SSI over the years means I will not see one cent that I paid into SSI if I reach retirement age. here in the uk they tax the social security that you pay in to if it goes over a certain amount , so it not a good way to save for retirement because they take majority of it when it reaches a certain amount , majority of workers who retire now have to go on the doll or get another job , ie more slavery
Try this. See if you can find out what the I in SSI and SSDI stands for on any government web site. The I stands for insurance. This was a mandatory insurance plan we were forced to pay premiums on and now that all the money has been looted they are calling it an entitlement and trying to make it sound like it is some kind of welfare.

Social Security was set up PRECISELY so that people would have a basic safety net in old age or via disability BECAUSE of the Stock Market Crash in 1929. Private investments are ok, as supplement, but what if they FAIL? You'll be left out in the cold, that's where. Millions of the elderly today would be left homeless TODAY, without such a program in place. There is no way, even via stock-market, that the average pee-on in America can 'secure' their investments on a salary of 30k per year.

The social security FDR setup would only work with a sound money policy. It will not work after the U.S. government abandoned the gold standard in 1971. After that, the rate of inflation was faster than the gains from the interest rates on social security. This is why it doesn't work anymore! The money you get today is worth more than the money you will get back 40 years later!

Unfortunately SS has gone to more than just retirement....disabled people have also gotten SS and taken out far more than they have put in...couple that with people living longer...yes it sucks since 401K's are no longer an option..in addition our houses are worth less than we owe AND you can not sell them anyway....they do not want us to have a safety net, or any assets of any kind.

I figure demographics (baby boomers) + looting of SSI over the years means I will not see one cent that I paid into SSI if I reach retirement age. Worse, SSI is probably looted for wars and other atrocious programs. I suppose the concept of SSI was a nice, fuzzy idea back in the 30's, but demographics and any presence of government corruption will doom it. It probably should have never been started in the first place so people would learn to save on their own, or suffer the consequences later.

here in the uk they tax the social security that you pay in to if it goes over a certain amount , so it not a good way to save for retirement because they take majority of it when it reaches a certain amount , majority of workers who retire now have to go on the doll or get another job , ie more slavery

This was a mandatory insurance plan we were forced to pay premiums on and now that all the money has been looted they are calling it an entitlement and trying to make it sound like it is some kind of welfare.
