I pick these in Michigan late Summer. Not bad eating a little too soft to cook like other mushrooms. I broil slices on top of precooked bacon strips. Once starting to brown, top with cheese and favorite pizza toppings broil until cheese melted or browned. Plate and crumble bacon from bottom back on top. Out of this world! Make sure the Mushroom is younger pure white and no gills of any kind, if so its not a puffshroom. Get a book to explain better.

@IndigoCat17 You can eat puffballs. These are also known as "EarthStars". Latin: Calvatia gigantea (giant puffball). There is another one related to it, that has pointy spikes on the cap (Vascellum curtisii). Also edible when completely white on the inside.

Did you know that you can actually eat the small ones? If they are hollow they are not good to eat but if you find a young one that is solid and slice it into wafers you can bread it and eat it ^_^
