The real bad sad part is that he had died and I did not know about it till the early 90's. Recently I returned to El Paso and well I drove over to his old house, and I had to revisit the local buggy shop too. His dad, Joe Merritt wanted a son all his life, in fact he had Harley's name picked out since the 50's. He had 3 daughters before Harley was finally born. Joe died of a broken heart about a year after Harley's accident.
Harley has a grown-up son , Joel and now Joel has 2 boys , Paul and Luke.....
