obsdian faster then diamond would make diamond pointless after the first 3. Lava would become more valuable =/. More or as resistant ok but not more damage or faster rate of mining.

Diamonds are rarer then obsidian, since obsidian can be made, and diamonds are random.

Actually, the obsidian isnt harder than diamond. In fact, obsidian has the half hardness of diamond in the Mohs scale. Diamond is the hardest natural material known in the world and can only be scratched by another diamond or a nanocrystalline Diamond (hiperdiamond)

@OriginallyDigital Of course games doesnt match up to reality! but that must not be a excuse to avoid coherent concepts, especially when the game NEEDS and USES them; thats why diamond tools are harder than iron tools, and we arent talking about reality, but about the game. In exchange, would be a good idea if someone makes a crafting idea about create nanodiamond, and could be anyway, cuz "crafting action" avoids a lot of logic in game, and doesnt need it to "create things" as you see.

In Minecraft, obsidian cannot be blown up by TNT but diamond can. Diamond blocks (not ore) take FAR less time to 'mine' than a block of obsidian. This means that IN MINECRAFT obsidian is harder than diamond.

I am well aware that in real life obsidian is nowhere near as tough as diamond.

Why are diamonds on a telescope? I don't think you know what a diamond is, they're impossible to see through.

@Jaden964 I know perfectly what a diamond is - seriously who doesn't mate? Even if I only had a primary school education I'd know what a diamond was (and I'm university educated). They're actually NOT impossible to see through mate (so it seems you're not aware of what a diamond is). What counts is how they are cut - cut in the right way, a diamond could easily act as a lens.

The reason I suggest diamonds as part of the recipe is so that the telescope isn't over-powered - it's balanced out.

I like the camera idea, but you should probably make the bottom wooden plank in the center redstone, so it's powered.

A little too much string there for the rope, and the chair should have sticks for the legs. This is just my opinion though

@Bombedit Remember mate, the string comes from spiders. Just think about how much string (or twine) actually goes into making rope in real life. If anything, there should be more string required than I've suggested.

@Bombedit ...how is a torch going to stick into anything? And the point is to make it so that it's not overpowered. Hell, Notch could make it so that you could craft diamond out of coal (since in real life diamond starts as coal anyway) and a lot of people would LOVE that because they could get near infinite diamond... but that would be stupid and would completely ruin the game because it would be too overpowered.

One quarter-piece of coal is FAR too cheap for igniting mobs

@777static777 How is a flint and steel going to stick to anything? Dude, I'm saying that a whole flint and steel for one arrow that won't even fully kill the thing isn't worth it. You can use a flint and steel one the ground beneath a mob and it dies from the flames, and that's just a single use.

@pipasa86 yes, but the idea is that the arrow lights the mob on fire. Iron is not exactly hard to come by (unless you happen to be the kind of person who does strip mining or branch mining, in which case I pity you).

I like the idea of obsidian tools being infinte, but if you think about how common obsidian is, it wouldn't be practacle to have it mine everything, and mine quicker than diamond. It could work like an infinite iron pick, since iron is fairly common and has decent speed. Instead of using them to speed-mine more obsidian, using a gold pick should 2-second mine them, but instantly destroy the pick, since gold dosen't have a super-effective use, even with clocks and bosster rails.

Wow, these ideas are really genius, i think notch should actually consider this, the telescope,obsidian armor,rope, camera are really cool ideas, i think the other types of arrows might be a little useless, as normal arrows are just fine against mobs, but the cleverness with the lightstone arrow is great, i can imagine being in a cave, and just using that to my advantage, i also thought that the camera is just brilliant. i mean, your own paintings? Hellz yeah, that would be really cool.

I just used paint - yup, good old paint. I edited existing items (cut them, stretched them, changed their color, mashed multiple items together) until I has an image that looked something like what I wanted.
