  • Ohio State shirt, guessing you are in Columbus. Guessing Dublin, Westerville regions of hand. Areas that are known to be hit w/ crime at times. So an officer see's your door open, figures he would help prevent a crime, and closes it for you. And this is offensive to you? If you dropped your wallet and he picked it up to give it back, would you claim he attempted to mug you? I understand some cops are bad, but this is reaching far for no reason. When someone does break in, who will you call?

  • @MinisterQuietBuck I don't live in Ohio.

  • thats trespassing. period, end of story. I would be posting no trespassing signs, and leaving the door open on purpose. cop tries that again file charges.

  • I didnt watch the video but read the description and comments. Sounds like this cop is doing you a favor. Remember were not here to divide people further apart. Promote trust and togetherness not distrust and dear. Cheers

  • that is just weird....

  • One thing I'd be careful of is retaliatory action. Cops chit chat and have a tendency towards petty and vindictive behavior. I would be not too happy, if that happened to me btw.

  • That was crossing the line..... Nice Shirt by the way....

  • lol heck i can't even ccome out of the grocery store without seeing a cop (predator) eyeballing me wanting to arrest me for something

doesnt suprise me- they can open your car door and leave a letter saying lock your car door...WTF

  • @H1INC Amen brother.

  • Yeah, that is way overstepping their bounds, don't they have real crime to fight? What about people that have carport with no door to close? I have also heard of them checking to make sure car doors are locked in parking lots and locking them if they are not, similar issue, what if there was a key broke off in the keyhole and the owner was then locked out?

  • @DontTread0nMe1776 Totally. Don't get me wrong. I think the intentions were good, but it still disturbs me that this is something they feel they are justified in doing. It reflects a deeper lack of respect for the private property of individuals and reveals the true attitude that most cops have, which is that they know what's good for you better than you do.

  • Also before anyone labels me a "sheep" or says that I need to "wake up" I am not a fan of how our country is run. I know its screwed up just like everyone else, but I think sometimes people take the whole "big brother is watching" to the extreme.

  • @Silverstack3r And perhaps I would be doing something "nice" for you if I came over to your house and told you how to raise your kids, but my guess is you would tell me it was none of my business. I find it amazing that anyone would think what he did was ok. If I got locked out of my house because of him do you think it would be a "nice" gesture? If the idea of cops walking into your house without any just cause is something that doesn't creep you out then that's your problem.

  • @TheSchaefReport That's a bogus example for a lot of reasons and one is because part of a police officers job is to help people in general. The cop made the incredibly outrageous judgment call that a homeowner might appreciate not having his garage open to the world when not at home. Also I take it that you weren't locked out of your house but are using that as a hypothetical reason to get bent out of shape. I also don't consider my garage the same as my home.

  • @Silverstack3r That's weird that you don't consider your garage part of your home. So do you let homeless people sleep in your garage? Do you store any personal items in there? If a stranger walked into your garage and decided to pitch a tent and make a campfire would you be ok with that? Bottom line is the cop made a judgment call that wasn't his to make. I already said that I see where he was coming from and how some people might appreciate it. But he still crossed the line and was trespassing

  • @TheSchaefReport I didn't say it wasn't part of my home but that its not the same as my home. I think any rational person would consider someone shutting their garage door a lot different than someone walking into their bedroom and making your bed as a nice gesture... It's funny how quickly people with your mentality change their tune when they actually need help, are your going to call and complain about trespassing when someone reports a fire at your home when your away?

  • @TheSchaefReport I wouldn't be cool with a cop coming into my home or garage in just any circumstance but when you consider what the guy was doing I think you ought to cut him a little slack. It's not like you were the victim of a home invasion... I think its a little dramatic to portray it that way. .

  • @Silverstack3r "The road to destruction is paved with good intentions." - Samuel Johnson

  • @Silverstack3r I don't think you listen very well, nor do I think you read my responses thoroughly. You just want to be right, but you're not doing a very good job of making a point. You say I use bad examples and then you say something stupid like me being upset about someone reporting my house being on fire when I'm away. I think you need to take a course in logic and then get back to me.

  • @TheSchaefReport Don't get mad that someone doesn't agree, stop making public videos if it's that upsetting to you... My question was if the fire department comes into your home to fight a fire when your gone, is that not trespassing to you? You don't know what all went into this cop deciding to close your garage door for you. How do you know that there hasn't been a lot of theft from garages in your area? or that the cop saw someone eying your open garage from the street?

  • @Silverstack3r Bottom line. It's my shit. If I don't lock it up I pay the price. There was no crime in progress, therefore he was not justified in entering my property. End of story.

  • @TheSchaefReport Honestly I don't care because it's your home and your life. You asked what people think so I chimed in. You think I'm an idiot for not caring and I think your another example of why most people are so shitty in today's society. I guess we can just agree to disagree.

  • @Silverstack3r I'm shitty? At least I know how to argue and make valid points. I guess I'll leave the childishness and ignorance to the un-shitty people like you then.

  • @TheSchaefReport Nah. From a third party perspective... you're the one being shitty.

  • @chop98 That's supposed to go to silverstacker. It's 7 in the morning and I'm half asleep. Apologies.

  • This is exactly why no one does anything nice for strangers anymore. Your more likely to get a complaint or a lawsuit than a thank you. Do you think his motivation was anything other than trying to help you out? I don't get how the officer crossed a line... Lately it seems like people are often looking for stuff to get upset about, not every cop is out there to push the police state mentality or looking to infringe on your rights. A lot of them are patriotic, liberty loving, good people.

  • @Silverstack3r "I don't get how the officer crossed a line"

Simple, Schaef owns property which has a "line", the officer trespassed that "line" without probably cause or warrant. Case closed.

Is it really that hard to understand?

  • If you did now, yes! lol

  • If you had a no trespassing sign, would they still trespass? If they tripped over something in your garage and got hurt, would you be responsible?

  • @myaim07 Good questions. Here's another one. If I heard someone rumbling around in my garage and I walked out and saw a dark figure standing there and I shot him would I go to jail?
