i am singing.... a prayer. and some of the more moving expressions of worship and prayer is through the arts. music especially overwhelms the senses, as singing conjures hormones and nuerotransmitters within us that make us happier. the sounds of music stir up our insides. there are few so powerful forms of prayer as music.

It's both. The Baha'i Faith places a great emphasis on personal exploration of the message. Art and music especially are powerful forms of exploration, and so Baha'is have always been encouraged to sing prayers. Given how lyrical many Baha'i prayers are, it's not really that difficult.

are you kidding me? i'd die. i can't sing in public. putting my music here on youtube took me like a year to get the courage to do it. it's an indirect way... i don't actually have to sing in front of people! i'd pass out or throw up or do both and then choke on the throw up and die. AND i don't play an instrument. i couldn't just go up there and not have an instrument being played while singing. first, it would help me a little with the stage fright thing, but it would make the song A SONG.

There is dancing. It helps. You dance your body tiny and hands big, like Edith Piaf.

And there are also other people, like musicians, who would love to get there with you.

Barbra Streisand also suffers from terrible stage fright.

I'll give you the same advice I was given by an older musician -- get your ego out of the way, and let your voice be used as a method God can use to get the message out. You sing well -- and the fact that this video's been viewed over 1,600 times indicates that God's message is being heard. :) Keep at it, and don't let *your* opinion get in God's way. :)

wow, hah, i didn't even think that it was my ego. when it comes to analyzing this problem i'm having, i can't seem to get over the vomit-inducing feeling. hahaha.... part of my new years resolution however is to get over this ridiculous phobia that has been limiting me all my life. lol, i didn't even realize this has been viewed that many times. hahahahaha! *faints* i'll pick up the pieces of this mess i call myself, i promise!!!! thank you for the kick in the butt! i mean it!! :D

i wanted to let you know that a year later and i am mostly over this fear! i sing at feasts and our intercommunity gatherings every time! it took me 20 years to get over the fear, but i did it! and very much in part of your inspiring words. i also had a friend teach me self-hypnosis pretty much topped it off. i got this! thank you!! :D
